Restore Teacher Salaries
Use returning revenues to honor our state's commitment to its teachers and fully fund our schools.
Why is this important?
SC has cut more from education (24.1%) than any other state. Now we are running a budget surplus of almost a billion dollars.
For the last four years, teachers have not been paid the salaries they were promised when they accepted their positions.
Gov. Haley wants to cut education by $80 million, leave salaries frozen, and use $62 million of the surplus for a corporate tax cut.
SC House of Reps has agreed to leave us two years behind on our salary schedules. Meanwhile, we'll pay 4.6% more for health premiums, and lose 1% of salary to correct decades of pension mismanagement.
Tell the Legislature to do more to honor SC's commitment to its teachers. Also contact them directly at scstatehouse.gov. Be sure to contact both House and Senate.
