Restore the Gem Theater of Garden Grove

The historic Gem Theater of Garden Grove, CA was granted exclusive management control by One More Productions for years. The theater is city owned and thus a venue of the people. One More Productions has ineffectively run the theater for the past several years promoting only it's own plays and has ignored any and all requests for outside usage of the Gem. A large number of Garden Grove residents and people living nearby have voiced their opinion, saying that they would like to see motion pictures and live entertainment to return to the Gem. The theater has been closed since May of 2011 when a fire broke out and left it unusable. At this time, renovations are being made, very slowly, to the Gem. The purpose of this petition is to let the city of Garden Grove and One More Productions to know that people care about the Gem and would like to see the theater brought back to life, offer more of a varity of entertainment and to restore the facade of the building to it's original Art Deco design.

Why is this important?

The historic Gem Theater of Garden Grove could be demolished if the city deems it to be a blighted building. The current management of this city owned venue has allowed it to deteriorate and has lost a large part of it's financial backing. Without your support, we could lose an important part of our local history and an iconic part of Garden Grove.
