To: The Michigan State House, The Michigan State Senate, and Governor Gretchen Whitmer

Tell the Michigan Republicans to stop muzzling women who disagree

Stop censoring the voice of the people of Michigan! Apologize to Representatives Brown and Byrum and to the citizens of Michigan for denying them a voice in government.

Why is this important?

Recently, Republican members of the state legislature censured two Democratic female legislators and refused them the right to speak on the house floor. Their offense? Using the word "vagina."

By refusing to let representatives Lisa Brown and Barb Byrum speak, Republicans have effectively denied thousands of Michigan citizens the right to a voice in government. This cynical, mean-spirited action erodes the very foundation of representative democracy.

Join me in demanding an end to such undemocratic, and ultimately unpatriotic, actions and in demanding an apology to the women legislators and their constituents.

Let the Republicans know that if they refuse to do so, we will seek further redress. Specifically, they have by their actions unquestionably violated their oath of office: to protect and defend the constitution.
