Retire Bridgport Harbor Station power plant
We call on PSEG's CEO Ralph Izzo to live up to his company's "green promise" to retire the coal-fired power plant in Bridgeport, CT. We urge them to partner with the City of Bridgeport, to include the affected community in all decisions related to responsible economic development of the harbor front property, and ensure a just transition for the employees of the plant.
Why is this important?
Burning coal to generate electricity is a leading cause of smog, acid rain, and toxic air pollution which includes, among other things, mercury, lead, carbon dioxide and arsenic, which contribute to adverse health conditions suffered by those communities living on the fencelines of these plants.
Retiring Bridgeport Harbor Station would improve public health, lower climate disrupting emissions, and provide opportunities for cleaner, more efficient energy alternatives.
