Presidents or members of Congress leaving office will only recieve forty percent (40%) of the pay and benefits allowed to them during thier term in office.
Why is this important?
As we talk about the national budget and cutting spending, I believe that the taxpayer is forgetting about the bill we are paying for officials who have either lost an election or simply just retire. I believe they should be responsible for some of thier own costs after leaving office.
