We propose the following changes via amendment to the U.S. Constitution:
1. Only people – not corporations, PACs, unions, etc. - can donate to a political candidate’s campaign.
2. Individuals can donate only to politicians who represent their district.
3. Donations per term to a political campaign may not exceed an amount equal to one week’s salary of a minimum wage earner.
4. This donation limit applies to candidates’ contributions to their own campaigns.
5. No political advertising by any entity may mention specific candidates’ names, except those by a competing political campaign.
Why is this important?
This is a constitutional amendment designed to remove the undue influence of the moneyed class on politicians, and make them more responsive to their constituents' real needs.
