Rezoning Two Properties on Commercial Street

We, the undersigned citizens and taxpayers of Gloucester, hereby enthusiastically support the rezoning of 33 & 47 Commercial Street to create a Hotel Overlay District and strengthen Gloucester’s economy.

Why is this important?

A hotel has been proposed in downtown Gloucester that will help our economy grow. But a small group of vocal opponents wants to hold Gloucester back. It’s time to stand up to them and say, “Enough is enough.” Gloucester needs to move forward, not backward, and create jobs and a healthy economy that will give our young people a reason to stay and visitors a reason to come here. This is about Gloucester’s future. We need your help!

The hotel will go on Pavilion Beach, near where an earlier hotel stood for 65 years. The new hotel will:

• Attract visitors whose spending will strengthen our downtown businesses.

• Create over 100 new full-time jobs.

• Generate revenue for the City from Meals, Rooms, and Property Taxes that can be spent on public safety and education.
