Pass a federal law that requires employers to provide an option of direct deposit of employee investment plus matching employer funds into an FDIC insured retirement account as an alternative to a 401K plan.
Why is this important?
My only option for retirement is a 401K. Even though my employer matches 50% (up to 4%) of my investment, I often lose money in a volatile market. Even the 'safest' investment which was supposed to carry no risk, now has a risk disclaimer. For those of us who prefer to not invest in the financial markets and who are content with a 50% match on our investment - a direct deposit into a FDIC retirement account would better fit our needs.
