Salt Lake: tax soda to stop childhood obesity

Salt Lake should follow the example of Berkeley, Philadelphia and other cities and implement a small tax on all soda sold in the city. Taxes in other cities have been shown to improve health and lower obesity.

Why is this important?

How is it that Soda is cheaper than bottled water? Soda is fine from time to time, but over consumption does lead to many health problems. Lets us lead the way towards a better city where people are free to drink soda, but they pay for part of the health costs that they incur on themselves.
