Authorize full-time lifeguards, while engaged in the performance of their duties, to issue citations for violations of the Municipal Codes & Penal Codes of the State of California that occur on the City of Santa Cruz Main Beach.

Why is this important?

The goal of this petition is to stop the garbage left by visitors from going into the ocean on Main Beach. Allowing the garbage to go into the ocean affects the lives of marine animals and destroys the health of the ocean. Currently, there is no enforcement on Main Beach of Municipal or State Codes, creating an overall lack of respect.
