We, the undersigned residents of Mount Pleasant, SC, strongly urge the Mount Pleasant Town Council members, Town Planning Commission and Mayor Linda Page to deny any and all requests to change the special R1-Institutional designation currently in place for the TRIDENT ACADEMY SOCCER FIELDS and PLAYGROUND in Wakendaw Lakes subdivision to an R1-Residential designation in order to PERMANENTLY PREVENT this property from residential development and PURCHASE and PROTECT it as recreation and open space for ALL Mt. Pleasant residents and their FAMILIES.
Why is this important?
The community of Mt. Pleasant will lose almost 10 acres of beautiful, open and recreational space because the Trident Academy property has been sold to a developer who plans to construct 19 homes starting this fall. We must insist that our town government follow through on its promise to protect and preserve open/recreational space by recognizing the immense quality-of-life benefits this property provides our families. We urge them to vote against its re-zoning and purchase it for the town.
