The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) will close the 40-acre Chassahowitzka River Campground on Oct. 1 to assess extensive hurricane damage – and may ultimately recommend selling the property.
As a cherished place for families and outdoor enthusiasts for decades, this sprawling oasis of springs, winding rivers, wild life, and under water cave systems can not be allowed to be sold to the highest bidder.
This area needs to be protected and be able to be shared with all Florida residents and tourist alike.
We don't want more condos, we don't want a golf course, we don't want our sacred past times threatened.
Keep this property open to the public for recreation and wild life conservation.
