Save Chatfield State Park
Find alternatives to the Chatfield Reallocation project that will not destroy much of the recreational and biological richness of Chatfield State Park.
Why is this important?
Water providers want to store additional water, to which they have very junior rights, in Chatfield Reservoir. The water will be there maybe 3 years in 10 but the heart of the park - riparian forests and wetlands - will be cleared out to make room for the occasional year's water. Many recreational facilities will be moved but will be far from the water in most years. Fishing, hiking, biking, ballooning and other activities will be affected. There are alternatives less damaging to the State Park but they haven't been seriously considered.
