Save Kalaheo Clinic

Closing Kalaheo Clinic would be a travesty for the multitude of patients who frequent the Kalaheo Clinic from Kalaheo. Based on the 2000 Census – 14 years ago, which current statistics show that population increases per year have been approximately 2%, you can see that these old statistics have probably doubled!

The 2000 population of Kalaheo was estimated to be 4000 (Lawai’s population about 2000, Omao’s population around 1300). As well as serving residents of Hanapepe, Ele’ele and even Koloa (population of the latter: 1942), when Dr. Michael Murray’s Koloa office is unable to handle the sheer scale of sick and injured visitors from the Po’ipu area, Murray often sends overflow patients to Kalaheo Clinic. (January 2014 tourism statistics show that some 848,480 visitors visited the island).

In this era of increasing numbers of elderly and baby boomers heading into their “Golden Years”, the Kalaheo Clinic should be expanded, instead of closed, and fully funded to meet the needs of the interim population who lives in the surrounding areas and who have been utilizing this clinic for many years.

Please sign the petition below so we all can have access to the medical care we need in this community. Please help us “Save Kalaheo Clinic”. Petition created by Clinic Patient Sheila Heathcote.

Why is this important?

We do not want our community clinic to close.
