Save military pensions

Many military families live paycheck to paycheck which does not allow them to save enough for retirement and because of the struggles of military life many military spouses are unable to pursue a career of their own to earn retirement benefits. The 401(k) type program would leave military members short in their retirement years and subject to the volatile stock markets. If the system must be changed, change the age that the pension may be drawn at. Keep military pensions intact for our nations heroes!

Why is this important?

Right now the Department of Defense and Congress are targeting military pensions as a cost saving effort. Military members who have been in less than 20 years but planning on retiring would have their entire retirement wiped away in a pen stroke, replaced with a 401(K) system. As a military spouse I am calling on President Obama, Congress and the Department of Defense to find spending cuts elsewhere and provide our military families the safety of a pension so they can be sure they have enough to live on later in life.
