Save Our Trees

You are hereby served notice that if the Newton Falls Board of Education goes through with its intent to "harvest" trees on the 42 acres of land donated for educational purposes, we will oppose approval of the next NF school levy.

Why is this important?

In 1987 some 42 acres of pristine forest land was generously donated to the Newton Falls Board of Education for "educational or public purposes" and for "the maximum enjoyment of the general public", according to the deed restrictions. However, to gain a mere pittance, the current Board auctioned off the trees on this public property to a small logging company not certified by the Ohio Forestry Association. A Temporary Restraining Order has prevented their destruction so far. All pleas and alternative means to save the trees have fallen on deaf ears. Perhaps this petition will not.
