As your constituents, we urge you to support S. 230, a bill that would ban genetically engineered salmon from approval by the FDA. This would be the first genetically engineered meat in the food supply. If this fish manages to escape, it could outcompete other species for food or habitat, and may pollute the genetic diversity of wild salmon stocks. Furthermore, there has been insufficient research to determine the human health impacts of consuming this laboratory-created animal.
