We oppose the compromise by the President to retain some of the Bush tax cuts while slashing Social Security benefits.
Why is this important?
President Barack Obama has offered to cut Social Security benefits to some of the most needy citizens, while retaining the Bush tax cuts to the rich as a means of avoiding the "fiscal cliff." The Republicans now state "we're getting closer to avoiding the cliff with this offer," but they continue to seek further cuts in the "entitlement" programs.
