Why is this important?
The South Caroina Retirement System is threatened for teachers as well as other state employees. It should not be touched. Workers have invested in the system and for many, it is a lifesaver. Hence, many are counting on it to be there and why shouldn't our money be there? We already know that one can't rely on Social Security alone upon retirement. Don't let legislators squander this money away as well.
