Save the lives of millions of Americans!
Approximately 600,000 women undergo hysterectomy each year with many of them losing their ovaries. A medical term for ovary removal is "female castration", a term rarely used in doctors' offices. The hormones produced by these organs are not only for sex and reproduction but are vital for the healthy functioning of women's bodies throughout their lives. It is time to enact laws which inform and protect women from the consequences of surgical alteration.
Why is this important?
This surgery, performed on me 20 years ago, changed my life in ways which I could never have imagined and still impacts my life today. I am not the same as I was before.
