To: The Oklahoma State House, The Oklahoma State Senate, and Governor Kevin Stitt
Save The Rush Springs Aquifer
We are asking for tighter laws and rules for mines and for water usage. The Oklahoma Water Board Resources Board was mandated in 1973 by state statute to assign maximum annual yields to all aquifers, lakes, rivers and ground waters in the state of Oklahoma. However, to date very few have been done, so they changed the rules. We, the undersigned, are requesting immediate action to save the Rush Springs Aquifer by assigning a maximum annual yield in the very near future, to protect our western Oklahoma aquifer that covers approx 5000 square miles, and serves many farmers and ranchers, municipalities, and industries.
Why is this important?
The Rush Springs Aquifer has already suffered depletion, and with the future use and withdrawals from increased activity of the oil and gas industry, and the future use by frac sand mines, the possibility of future droughts, it is imperative that we protect the Rush Springs Aquifer NOW!!!!!!
