Save the State Money: Time Credit for ALL Texas State Prisoners

Save the State of Texas taxpayers the annual cost of housing its citizens in prison. Give all prisoners the same earning credits to include work time, good time, etc.

This would not cost a cent to the state, but save taxpayers' money. This would allow prisoners to earn their own early release based on good conduct, work initiative and educational endeavors; all positive pursuits.

It would not guarantee early release to anyone; it would merely allow for early review. Each person would have to earn their own early release on the basis of positive change.

Why is this important?

Texas taxpayers pay $21,390 a year per prisoner.

If a parole officer can have a case load of 60, that would save the state $1,262,010 each year times 67 Parole Offices times the number of parole officers in each office. Do the math. Save our money or spend it more wisely.
