Save the Twenty Mile House

We petition the Zoning Commission and the Trustees to take a stand to preserve the Twenty Mile House by any means at their disposal. This would include postponing any final decisions for at least six months and making official and personal efforts to seek alternative buyers who would preserve and use the business-zoned Twenty Mile House. Certainly a gas station is not an improvement for the people of Deerfield Township. Clearly the building can be made quite attractive and visually enhance the area while supporting the notion that historical places should not be bulldozed "under the carpet" to make way for a modern eyesore.

Why is this important?

A local developer plans to demolish the 190 year old building for a convenience store and gas station. Located at Columbia Road and U.S. 22/Ohio 3, the Twenty Mile House has been a stagecoach stop and a restaurant. The building was constructed in 1822 and has a rich history which is summarized at friendsofthetwentymilehouse.org
