Limit the amount of grass area allowable for commercial buildings and multiple unit residential properties. Encourage non-grass landscapes.
Why is this important?
Water is a decreasing resource in New Mexico and we should not waste water on green lawns for large-scale properties. Xeriscapes are beautiful and should be encouraged for commercial buildings. Imagine not being able to deliver water to residences; it could happen if we don't think ahead.
