To: The Wisconsin State House, The Wisconsin State Senate, and Governor Tony Evers
Save Wisconsin DNR Education, Communication and Science
Governor Walker's budget will eliminate Wisconsin DNR's messengers:
16 natural resource educators and 11 communicators.
16 natural resource educators and 11 communicators.
Why is this important?
Don't like the message? Don't kill the messenger! Let the governor and legislature know about the vital services that are at stake.
These are the people who:
-Create classroom materials about our natural world
-Train teachers and scout leaders to deliver those messages with robust lesson plans and engaging activities.
-Teach people of all ages how to hunt and fish and care for habitat
-Tell us about the wonders of our first-class state park system and add value to your visits there.
-Inform us about natural resources issues through press releases and web content.
-Interpret the findings of 30 DNR scientists and others, and share them through video stories and training on YouTube, Public Service Announcements on radio, TV, theaters, web and billboards, social media like Facebook, Twitter and live Chats, and the Wisconsin Natural Resources magazine. See that issue on your coffee table? It just might be your last, even though you’ve already paid for your subscription.
We really appreciate your support. In addition to signing this petition, contact members of the Joint Finance Committee now and ask that they restore all 57 positions and remind them that they are all either federally funded or funded by user fees like fishing and hunting licenses. These position cuts will have no effect on the state budget.
