To the President of the United States
We ask you what has America become? Why do we have a government that does nothing to prevent the slaughter of our children? Do the President and the Congress need a tragedy to force them to protect the innocent? Must more of our sons and daughters die before all of you do the right thing, or do anything at all? Mr. President, we beg you to be the leader we need now. Send a gun bill immediately to Congress before it becomes blind and deaf again. If you wait, more funerals with small coffins, more suffering, weeping families will surely come and America will mourn again. Our children will die and so will democracy in this country. How long can it survive when Americans know that their government has betrayed them? We speak for every one who has ever loved a child.
