Say "NO" to the La Verne Water Rate Increase!

Last year La Verne Residents were hit with a 40% meter charge increase in addition to an 8% increase for water. Only one year later and the city is coming back to the well, pushing to get a "modest" increase of $8.88 for the average customer. This, however, represents a 9% increase from the previous year. Don't believe this has anything to do with water quality! Stand up and take action as a La Verne resident, help keep our utilities affordable!

Why is this important?

Our elected officials implemented a 40% increase for our meter charge in October of 2017 in addition to an 8% increase in the unit price for our water and now they're coming back to the well (our wallets!).
Proposition 218 requires that the city give resident 45 days advance notice prior to the Dec 3rd public hearing by the City Council. During the public hearing, if a majority protest is received then the City Council cannot adopt the noticed rate increase; if less than a majority protest is received, then the City may adopt the rate increase. A majority protest is 50% plus 1 of ALL property owners noticed, not a simple majority of votes received. Make YOUR voice heard and help ensure our water rates are kept within reason by signing this petition!
