SCOTUS Nomination: Fair process and Fair-minded Justice
The Supreme Court needs to be a trusted institution free of the divisive and fact-challenged rhetoric of our current politics. The Senate must go through a fair, deliberate, and open process that is not rushed and any justice selected must be fair-minded, not an ideologue. Stand strong for balanced justice.
Why is this important?
We've already been sweating through decision after decision coming from the past several Supreme Court sessions with as many defeats as victories. The key vote in 5-4 decision after 5-4 decision has been Justice Anthony Kennedy and while his votes haven't always been what progressives wanted, he has also helped the progressive position through key decisions as well.
This tenuous balance is in danger now. Justice Kennedy has announced his retirement and Trump is already licking his lips at another chance to moved the court to the right.
What to do?
Of course, we will speak up about justice, we will work hard on the upcoming elections to get balance in Washington by taking back power from Trump's Republican allies, and we will settle in to the long battle for sanity that must be waged for the progress.
