SCOTUS Upheld Health Care Access, Now North Carolina Must Act

The Supreme Court has upheld the Affordable Care Act for the second time, reaffirming many North Carolinians’ access health care. It’s up to you to act to give 407,000 more residents of North Carolina, including over half who are women, access to affordable care and stand with women and families now.

In February, you said that you would not make a recommendation on Medicaid expansion until after the Supreme Court ruled on the Affordable Care Act. Now that they have, we’re counting on you to do the right thing and accept federal Medicaid expansion dollars.

Why is this important?

In February, when asked about his position on expanding Medicaid eligibility to more North Carolinians, Gov. McCrory said, “I will not make any recommendation as to whether or not we extend insurance for the uninsured until the court case because there are so many ramifications of the court case.” (News & Observer, 02/19/15)

On June 25, 2015, the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act, making it easier for millions of Americans to access affordable health care. Now we need Gov. McCrory to act.

Expanding Medicaid in North Carolina could mean 407,000 more North Carolinans, including many families and children could have access to better health care.

It’s time for Gov. McCrory to stand with women and families!
