On January 7, 2017, there was a horrific accident that took the life of Shania Costella. Shania’s vehicle hydroplaned on Road 426 and China Creek, and her vehicle rolled over the edge and into the creek. Her loss was felt across the mountain community, her high school, friends, and family. Shania’s sister Sahvannah survived the tragic accident, and together with Caleb Morgan, one of Shania’s friends, they have decided to start this petition to prevent any further accidents on this dangerous stretch of road. This curve is unsuspectingly sharp, and there have been numerous other accidents at this spot. We are urging you sign this petition to put up a guardrail at this location. This guard rail has the potential to save lives and prevent families from enduring the heartache that has been felt from Shania’s loss. For someone who claims to spend more time at "home" than any other member of Congress, the constituents of Louisiana's 5th District have a hard time getting in touch with Rep. Ralph Abraham. He isn't holding a single public event during the two-week recess and his staff members are unresponsive to requests for public meetings.
