PA House Bill 683 was referred to your committee Feb. 12, 2013 It will limit whistle-blowing, and keep the public unaware of food safety problems, animal abuse and poor/dangerous working conditions on factory farms. I have a Niece who is 10 years old and mentally much older but responsible no. I know mature adults who send many messages and posts irresponsibly.

As a friend and family member of rape victims I know firsthand the lifelong trauma rape engenders. Judge Derek G. Johnson is a disgrace to both the judiciary and humanity for his rulings literally in sympathy with rapists over their victims. He needs to step down or be removed. I ask that all local and state police and all members of the Sheriffs Department be required to attend at least 12 hours of Human Trafficking awareness classes and at least 6 hours of training for proceedures in dealing with both victims and thier abductors. This should be done at least once every two years as changes will make this a progressive pursuit.

Greene County Detention Center (Jail) is quite possibly the worst in the country with prisoners committing suicide and the jail routinely failing DCI inspections and losing certification. That is because the jail is over 100 years old and could never comply with current state regulations. There have been 38 lawsuits filed in District Court against the Sheriff, with most regarding the deplorable jail conditions. A class action lawsuit was filed regarding the conditions in the women’s jail and all have been dismissed because the District Court is located in Greeneville and the Judges refuse to recuse themselves. The attorney who was consulted to take the case, Tony G. Lee, Jr. mysteriously died of a heart attack less than a month after being consulted.

Gov. Jerry Brown: California is the second largest market for ivory in the U.S. Enforce a complete ban on the commercial sale of African elephant ivory in California.

As a Californian, I urge you to sign SB 707 and help maintain our safe K-12 and college campuses by specifically curtailing where loaded, concealed handguns can be carried. A broad list of organizations representing law enforcement, school officials, public health professionals and violence prevention advocates all support this legislation as a way to help reduce risk and increase safety.
