The endorsement by the Working Families Party of candidates who aggressively pursue non-violent drug arrests, particularly marijuana, was misleading to New Paltz voters and should be revoked. Fire Philip Leber from WFP for wrongfully refusing to interview valid criminal justice reform candidates and giving the WFP endorsement (by default) to Neil Bettez and Daniel Torres despite their aggressive pursuit of Marijuana, Underage Drinking, and non-violent drug arrests. Revoke the endorsement of these candidates due to their policy of 36% of all arrests in New Paltz being for marijuana and underage drinking, which is directly against the Working Family Party platform of the legalization of marijuana and the reduction of marijuana arrests.

Dear Representative, I urge you to reject the Farm Bill that was released last month. This bill doubles down on a failing food system that harms our health, decimates soil and pollinators, pollutes our water, and leaves us vulnerable to climate chaos. We need to move beyond this antiquated Farm Bill that spends billions of taxpayer dollars to subsidize environmentally destructive commodity crops that feed factory farms and junk food companies. Instead of this Farm Bill, I urge you to support the Food and Farm Act. This alternative bill will help U.S. farmers produce abundant, healthy food while reducing pesticide use and protecting our soil, water, climate, and pollinators. It will help local and regional farmers grow healthy fruits and vegetables for our schools and invest in the research farmers and ranchers need to be more resilient to climate change. It will also prevent tax dollars from subsidizing animal waste facilities built by factory farms and require that farmers protect our water and soils in exchange for the generous crop insurance and farm subsidies that taxpayers provide. Please stand up for our food system and reject the Farm Bill and any amendments that undermine critical protections for our food system, environment, and communities. Thank you,
