NJ Senate and Assembly leadership have taken action to fast track a proposal that would change our state constitution in ways that experts agree lead to gerrymandered districts and unfair maps. SCR43 and ACR60, would change the New Jersey Constitutional in order to mandate legislators be placed in charge of drawing the maps they will run in. In effect, tasked with choosing their own voters.

- School shootings are on the rise: As of this April, more people have been killed or injured in mass school shootings in the past 18 years than in the 20th century (1). - Raise the age for legally purchasing firearms to 21 because young adults ages 18-20 are 4 times likelier to commit homicide with a gun than adults over 21 (2). - Furthermore, adolescents, including 18-year-olds, commit the majority of high school shootings (1).

Elected officials of both parties accepted PAC money from union-busting Charter Communications. The goal of this petition is to push them all to donate this money to the 1800 families of the IBEW Local #3 Striker Fund.

We are deeply disappointed to learn that during the lead in to the current ground invasion of Gaza, members of the New York City Council, State Legislature and Members of Congress attended press conferences at New York City Hall and at Queens Borough Hall and delivered one-sided statements in support of these violent attacks, without conditions or reservations. The plight of Palestinians trapped in the ghetto of Gaza, in poverty and under fire, went unrecognized. Furthermore, some politicians used language that dehumanized Arabs and supported policies that flout international law. New York politicians are sending a message that Jewish lives have more value than Muslim and Christian Palestinians, and that one New York community is preferred over another. It's time to put voters first in Albany. Pass a comprehensive campaign reform bill for all New York state elections based on public financing of campaigns, lower contribution limits, and stronger disclosure rules that will keep lobbyists and corporations from stealing our democracy.
