Protect the right to vote: ask federal officials to investigate GOP dumping of Virginia voter reg...I'm writing to urge the investigation of voter registration fraud in Virginia. On October 18, 2012, a Republican operative in Harrisonburg, Virginia was arrested and charged with 8 felonies and 5 misdemeanors after voter registration application forms were found thrown away in a dumpster and the problem could be more widespread. Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has instigated an investigation but we can't trust him to impartially investigate his own party while simultaneously seeking their gubernatorial nomination. Ask federal officials to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation to ensure every eligible voter can cast a ballot that counts. Thank you.5,772 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Brian Devine, ProgressVA.org

Cancel The Zimmerman / DMX "Celebrity" Boxing MatchFebruary 5, 2014 would have been the nineteenth birthday of slain teenager Trayvon Martin. While many recognized his birthday by recalling the sadness of another young Black male killed for no reason other than his skin color, promoter Damon Feldman marked the occasion by promoting a so called Celebrity Boxing Match between Martin’s killer, George Zimmerman and controversial gangster rapper DMX in poor taste. Instead of simply complaining about the injustices of the legal system and the exploitation of this young man’s murder, Sistas Inspiring Sistas would like to petition for the cancellation of Feldman’s insensitive attempt at entertainment.84 of 100 SignaturesCreated by FMLM

Cattle Ranchers Must Pick Up the Manure of Their Herds Before it Can Contaminate Public WatersSince cow manure contains 5 diseases (E. Coli, Listeriosis, Salmonella, Cryptosporidiosis, & Giardia) that can contaminate both water & crops if left unattended, ranchers must pick up & responsibly manage the manure from their animals *before* it can contaminate water supplies OR crops. Since free-range cattle are present in every national forest throughout the United States, & are not native to these ecosystems, & not every citizen utilizes cattle products, it is only fair that public land, air, & water is protected from the contamination caused by unharvested cow manure-- which makes great, currently untapped fuel source.32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alexandra "Distance Everheart" Wilson

480 Potrero must have an EIRWhy Does 480 Potrero Project Need an EIR? The Mitigated Neg Dec created by the planning department is not complete and to satisfy CEQA, the project needs: 1) Mitigation to protect the Verdi Club, a historic resource, 2) A full analysis of the environmental effects of digging down 16 feet in the soil containing serpentine and industrial history, 3) Full analysis of the traffic and parking conditions, 4) Full analysis of the shadow effects on parks and public ways, 5) An evaluation of the aesthetics of a building that does not fit the character of the neighborhood. Without improvements to the infrastructure and transportation this building contributes to a reduction in the quality of life for old and new residents in the neighborhood.179 of 200 SignaturesCreated by MUNA

Take Back The NationTo The People If we desire to remove individual and corporate influences from our government, we must eliminate the massive amounts of funds it takes to win a political seat, or to bring a proposition to law. I submit that if We The People wish change the system, it can and will change. Petitions with the following proposals could put them on the ballot in time for this next presidential election. 1.Elections must have spending limits on them. A reasonable spending level would be .50 per registered voter effected by the office in question. This would eliminate negative ads, and even the race so more candidates would have a fare chance to win. Those who do run must acquire a percentage of registered voters for each office sought, perhaps 5%. 2.Currently all broadcast media must have as part of their license a certain amount of “community service” as part of their programming. A requirement to air debates between all the qualified candidates can be made part of that time requirement. Local radio and TV stations for local office. Networks the Internet and National Radio for National ones. ( As it is we have heard Republican and Democratic candidates for over a year already. ) 3.All sample ballots must included a section on how each candidate has voted, and or acted on major issues and what they have accomplished in lesser offices or related employment. 4.Bills and Propositions must have spending limits enforced; the dollars spent to push special interests programs through, and to stop the people’s interests from becoming law are far too excessive. Spending must be limited to a reasonable amount. $.50 per registered voter effected would be reasonable. 5.Make it a crime for our Government officials: Congressmen, Representatives and all other levels of Public Office; to vote on or introduce any bill or law where they have received funds or have any ties to any one involved with the “Special Interests” involved. Trading votes with others would be considered as conspiracy to commit treason. Make no mistake, it is Treason to act in the private sectors interest when you are a public official. The 5 modifications submitted before you could fix our system in less than 6 years. Silence Does NO Good4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Richard Clayton

Demand a full apology for and retraction of inflammatory remarks made by Mr. Yusuf ShabazzOn Sept. 18th, a police-related shooting shook Savannah: a young man, Charles Smith, is dead, and a police officer is under GBI scrutiny for the shooting. While many details have not been released of the investigation, and I will refrain from commenting on the shooting itself, one fact is not in question: Mr. Charles Smith had an outstanding warrant for auto theft by receiving, and was already on parole for other offenses previously committed. He was arrested on this warrant and parole violation in a local convenience store. He was handcuffed and put into a patrol car. After he kicked out the window of the patrol car, he is alleged to have flashed a weapon that remained undiscovered during the arrest, and he was shot and killed on the scene. While our community is shocked and saddened by this incident, and not only want but demand a full accounting of the facts as evidenced by the immediate investigation by the GBI, we also demand full accountability from our elected representatives, and expect them to maintain a professional, peaceful, and proactive presence in the community. In this regard, Mr. Yusuf Shabazz, County Commissioner of the 5th District, has failed miserably. On Tuesday, Sept. 23rd, Mr. Shabazz led a rally on the convenience store where the arrest took place. He called for a boycott of the convenience store and blamed the owner for calling the police on a wanted man. He blamed the owner of the convenience store for the young man's death, claiming "we hold you responsible," thus potentially endangering the business, livelihood, and possibly the well-being of the store owner and his family. These irresponsible and highly immoral and unethical remarks do not send the right message about this shooting or our city. No matter the facts of the actual shooting, the convenience store owner is in no way responsible for what happened. He released surveillance tapes as required by the GBI. Further, EVEN IF HE DID contact the police to arrest a wanted man, is this now a crime? Is it a crime to keep our neighborhoods crime free by being proactive and calling the police? Is this the message we want to send to our youth, that we will hold "snitches" responsible for their tips? Mr. Shabazz's remarks were hateful, divisive, and inflammatory. As an elected official, he represents everyone in Chatham County, not just his district, and we refuse to be represented by this kind of hate. Whereas we as the citizens and residents of Chatham County and Savannah, Georgia, both deserve and demand better from our government, we call on Mayor Edna Jackson and other elected officials to: A) Demand an immediate and public apology and retraction by Mr. Yusuf Shabazz. B) Censure him to the fullest possible measure for his inflammatory and unethical remarks. C) Issue a statement absolutely condemning Mr. Shabazz's remarks and uncategorically supporting the convenience store owner. D) Continue to keep Savannah calm and peaceful while the investigation continues by immediately and publicly renouncing efforts such as Mr. Shabazz's to divide and inflame our community.2,321 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Melissa McCoy
