Pursuant to the McCullen v Coakley No. 12-1168 decision, we are petitioning to do away with any buffer zone around the U.S. Supreme Court. Citing the First Amendment (Freedom of Speech), and access to public property, we, the American people, in the capacity as "counselors", would like access to the Supreme Court Justices as they enter the building going to work. (Note - In the spirit of compromise and reasonableness, a thirty-five foot buffer zone would be acceptable.)

Illinois teens need accurate and comprehensive-sex education to ensure their health and safety. Research shows that teenagers who receive sex education that includes discussion of contraception are more likely to delay sexual activity and use contraceptives when they do become sexually active, HB 2675 creates a standard for sex education in our schools for grades six through 12 by providing medically accurate, age appropriate comprehensive Sex Education.

On October 3, 2015, a U.S. airstrike bombed a Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan killing at least 22 civilians--10 patients and 12 staff members--and wounding dozens more. To ensure that the truth about this bombing emerges in ways that help prevent another such atrocity, President Obama should immediately call for an inquiry from the independent and impartial International Humanitarian Fact-Finding Commission (IHFFC).

Certified Nurse Assistants have been under-valued and under-paid across the board. We perform unending tasks in health care including private duty home care, Nursing Homes, and hospitals. We are not being fairly paid! You can work 15 years in Healthcare and still get paid only $10 to $12 per hour, which is the same as it was 15 years ago. This is not RIGHT! It's time to give CNAs a raise!

In Pennsylvania, 1,538,100 people are facing hunger and of them, 436,000 are children. More than 12 million children could lose access to federally subsidized free school meals due to President Trump's executive order. This would greatly impact the already large number of people suffering from food insecurity. Please stand with us against these possible harsh conditions of extreme food insecurity. Food insecurity is a crime against humanity!

The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is threatened by toxic copper mining. This is America’s most visited wilderness, beloved for its solitude and unique accessibility to people of all backgrounds and abilities, and the cornerstone of Minnesota’s growing $9.9 billion outdoor recreation economy. Copper mining proposed in the headwaters threatens the greater 4.3 million acre ecosystem encompassing Voyageurs National Park, the Superior National Forest, and Canada’s Quetico Provincial Park. Not to mention, this is the sixth most critical region in the lower 48 to protect for climate resiliency.  We know that the plans laid out in Project 2025 and supported by former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance would spell disaster for public lands and the environment, including the Boundary Waters. At a July 27 campaign rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Trump promised to reverse the historic mining ban within the first 10 minutes of his being in office. Furthermore, Project 2025 — a sweeping policy agenda for a second Trump term by the right-wing Heritage Foundation and supported by many conservative candidates and Trump allies  —  specifically lists overturning the mining ban near the Boundary Waters.  Minnesotans and Americans of all backgrounds across the country want the Boundary Waters permanently protected. Polling shows that 70% of Minnesotans want to protect the Boundary Waters from sulfide-ore copper mining in the headwaters of Minnesota’s canoe country Wilderness. We need the next president and vice president to do everything they can to make sure the Boundary Waters is protected for ever, for everyone. I am writing in the hopes that you will honor the rights of individual homeowners and stop the NYC Landmark Preservation Commission from turning Harrison Street (Staten Island) into a "Historical District." This process creates unfair financial burdens in an area where the vast majority of homeowners are working class and middle class constituents. I support the plight of homeowners who struggle to make mortgage payments as it is, and will not support any efforts to add more hardships to their lives. I am counting on you, as well as other local and state politicians to make the right choice and support their constituents in this effort.

We oppose the Kasich administration’s announced plan to stop separate and direct state funding lines to Ohio’s 24 regional campuses. This action will undermine the open-access mission and academic stability of the regionals and deprive many communities of an efficient and effective arm of Ohio’s higher education system. Separate funding should be preserved because: - It assures protection of the open-access mission. - The regional campuses are generally working well, are not broken, and do not need to be fixed. - Ohio universities have vast and expanding layers of administrative bureaucracy and other non-instructional costs that would quickly absorb revenues produced at the regional campuses, funds that should be committed to instruction at the regionals.
