  • Prescription Drug Law
If you get pulled over and they do a drug screening & your prescription drugs show up you may be facing a misdemeanor, there are no levels to this law as there is to alcohol consumption. It doesn't seem to matter how long you've been on a particular prescription. If you read the labels on your prescription or over the counter medication almost all drug companies are putting on the label may cause drowsiness, do not drive until you see how this medication affects you.

  • Ban Routine Infant Male Circumcision (MGM) Now
WHEREAS infant male circumcision (male genital mutilation, or MGM) is a medically unnecessary surgery that is performed without the victim's consent, and WHEREAS not a single professional medical organization on Earth endorses MGM, and WHEREAS MGM is a violation of the basic human right of bodily integrity, and WHEREAS boys deserve the same legal protection against genital mutilation or alteration that is now afforded to girls in the United States, we call upon the New York State legislature to enact a law banning male circumcision on any male without his consent and before he shall have reached the age of 18.

  • Mayor Derek Armstead: Exxon Mobil Proposed Settlement - A Bad Deal For Linden
Stop the proposed settlement that would allow Exxon Mobil to pay just $225 million, less than 3% of the $8.9 billion in pollution damages the state spent a decade suing to recover. The affected area is literally right in Linden's backyard, so as Mayor of the City of Linden, I would have liked to have had some kind of input on this, details of the pending agreement or, more importantly, how this will affect Linden. Considering the the loss of use, for years and years, the residents of the City of Linden have endured to protected wetlands, marshes, meadows and waters in the city, the people deserve some rational explanation for the monetary settlement and specifics on how the contamination will be cleaned. • Unfair stakeholder meeting process for Wharton State Forest motor vehicle access
Thanks to all who helped to force the DEP to include Stakeholders and the citizens in the Development of the Motorized Access Plan (M.A.P). The DEP has agreed to hold Stakeholder forums and a public meeting on the M.A.P.; however, we are gravely concerned with their approach. Instead of following through with their commitment to truly work with the stakeholders, they are instead starting with the M.A.P., and asking the stakeholders to defend their needs to the DEP. Given the magnitude of the change to the status quo and lack of scientific justification for the proposed closures, we believe the process should be reversed. We believe that the DEP owes it to the public to provide to the stakeholders a prioritized list of roads they would like closed, with appropriate justification, in advance of the forums. This will allow the stakeholders to review the information with their constituents and come prepared to discuss any potential impacts at the stakeholder forum. If the MAP is as well-thought out as claimed then providing this prioritized list of closures and justifications should be an easy task. We ask that you use your influence to make this a fair process in two ways: 1) Ask the DEP to start with a clean sheet of paper and ask the DEP to provide to the stakeholders what they would like closed and why, instead of starting with the MAP and asking each Stakeholder to justify the access they have had for 50+ years. 2) Request the stakeholder and public sessions be delayed until the above is done. Thank you again for your continued support of protecting Wharton State Forest while providing fair access to it.

  • #NoNewYouthJail
All children regardless of race or economic status deserve to remain in their communities and receive the support and resources to thrive. Westchester County, New York is in the process of expanding its youth jail to a multi-bed facility for youth from the surrounding 14 counties. WE SAY NO! We must transform our criminal justice system away from punishment and towards restorative justice.
