The Federal Trade Commission must thoroughly investigate, delay, and end the Amazon–One Medical merger for potential anticompetitive effects and privacy violations! Amazon is trying to establish a healthcare industry monopoly. Last week, the tech giant announced a deal to purchase health provider One Medical for a whopping $3.9 billion. One Medical is a major Medicare contractor — and is a central player in the Medicare privatization program begun under Trump. The thought of Amazon getting into the healthcare game is terrifying. Amazon is liable to crush competitors; capitalize on our health data; and accelerate the devastating Medicare privatization process currently underway. The Amazon – One Medical merger may be illegal under current anti-monopoly laws. Senator Amy Klobuchar, chair of the Senate committee responsible for anti-monopoly policy, is calling for a thorough investigation by the Federal Trade Commission — and we need to make sure that happens.

Gun violence is devastating families and communities, and we urgently need Congress to put common sense gun control laws in place. Parents are mourning the children they lost. Teachers are shocked that active shooter drills turn into tragic reality. Students are forever traumatized after watching their peers killed. Siblings are missing their best friends at home. Politicians must put families first, but instead we see time and time again that the National Rifle Association (NRA) is pouring millions of dollars into the pockets of elected officials who would rather cash a check than protect the communities they represent. Enough. There are basic steps including background checks, waiting periods, and banning assault-style weapons which can help protect our families. Congress should stop enabling the NRA and instead pass legislation to protect families now.

Whereas, the federal government has been shut down for 28 days as of October 28, 2025, forcing hundreds of thousands of federal workers to miss paychecks and threatening vital services for millions of Americans, including SNAP benefits; Whereas, Speaker Mike Johnson has abdicated his primary responsibility to govern by keeping the House of Representatives in recess for nearly five weeks, refusing to hold a vote on a measure to reopen the government; Whereas, for 34 days, Speaker Johnson has refused to administer the oath of office to Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva of Arizona, who was duly elected on September 23, 2025. This action is a subversion of the democratic process, disenfranchises nearly 800,000 Arizonans, and has been challenged in federal court as an unconstitutional abuse of power; Whereas, Speaker Johnson's justification for this refusal—the ongoing shutdown—is a precedent he himself has violated by previously swearing in Republican members during pro forma sessions; Whereas, members of the Speaker's own Republican conference, including Rep. Kevin Kiley, have begun to publicly criticize his strategy of recessing the House as "embarrassing" and the "wrong decision," demonstrating that there are members "across the aisle" who are prioritizing a return to governance over partisan strategy; Therefore, we, the undersigned, call on the House Democratic Caucus and its leadership to immediately: 1. File a Motion to Vacate the Chair. Initiate the formal House procedure to declare the office of Speaker of the House vacant, citing Speaker Johnson's failure to perform his constitutional duties, his refusal to allow votes to fund the government, and his unprecedented blockade of a duly-elected member. 2. Reach Across the Aisle for Support. Actively and publicly engage with Republican members who have expressed frustration with the shutdown and the Speaker's strategy. Secure the necessary bipartisan support for the Motion to Vacate by framing it as a necessary, patriotic vote to restore the basic functions of Congress. 3. Force the Swearing-In of Rep-elect Grijalva. Use every available parliamentary tool, legal challenge, and point of public privilege to demand the immediate and expedient seating of Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva, to end the unconstitutional silencing of her constituents. The American people cannot be held hostage by a Speaker who refuses to govern. The voters of Arizona's 7th District cannot be ignored. The time for passive opposition is over. We demand you use the constitutional power of the House to remove this obstacle, reopen our government, and restore representation.

We call on the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to stop penalizing the Bernie Sanders campaign for reporting a security breach from the voter data vendor NGP VAN. Just 6 weeks from Iowa, the DNC has barred Sanders access to the voter file, crippling grassroots efforts. The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN Politics, and Buzzfeed have reported that no Clinton data was taken, the Sanders campaign responsibly reported the breach promptly, and that NGP VAN has a history of these internal firewall security failures. Discipline the vender, don't shoot the messenger!

Children need to learn about their basic human rights; we as adults must give them this education. We must teach children that they are not entitled to other humans' bodies without consent. The focus must be on affirmative consent, "yes means yes," instead of "no means no."

We urge the City of Miami Beach Design Review Board to ensure the view corridors to the north and south of 5775 Collins Avenue are maintained as they provide much needed light and air to the neighborhood. View corridors are for pedestrians, beach goers, cyclists, bus riders and even those in vehicles that . It's not about buildings next door or across the street. The proposed development at 5775 Collins Avenue should respect these 54 year old view corridors along this historic Miami Beach artery. Let's stop the proliferation of "Condo Canyon."
