This petition will be delivered to Carroll County Sheriff James (Jim) DeWees with Carroll County residents’ signatures to demonstrate the vast local support for keeping our communities safe by getting ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) collaboration out of our local law enforcement.  Summary: Carroll County residents are signing this petition to show that they want the Carroll County Sheriff’s office to-  1. End all cooperation with ICE. 2. End the recently signed 287(g) Warrant Service Officer (WSO) Agreement which trains Carroll County Detention Center deputies to perform some functions of an ICE officer.  The reasons for this demand are: • When local law enforcement cooperates with ICE, community members (particularly immigrants) lose trust in local law enforcement – making immigrants less likely to report crimes they witness or are victims of and making everyone less safe.  • Diverting local law enforcement funds, staff, and other resources to immigration enforcement and away from investigating serious crimes makes communities less safe.  • The immigration system has been proven to be broken and racist. Local law enforcement should not feed into it.  • ICE is currently operating under a lawless presidential administration which is systematically violating the constitutional rights of immigrants seeking asylum, green card holders, and naturalized US citizens and weaponizing ICE agents to suppress free speech.  Carroll County residents – If you are in agreement, please sign at the bottom of the petition to show your support. To whom it my concern : I am a citizen of Clayton co. thats in Ga an my concern is why is that the CEO of corporation is making all the money an will not give there employees a raise or a cost of living increase we're doing our job it's not fair for them to do this to hard worker we have families just like you the cost of living has sky rocket an we still make the same wage. I haven't had a pay increase in god nos when. Now that's sad wile CEO's r making millions thats whats wrong with this country. Everybody wake up please please we have to all come together to put a stop an i mean a STOP to this mess. Look at Gas prices when i was a kid gas was 25 cent a gallon now look at it i never thought gas would ever get this high. Now to make a long story short it's time to stop talking an start doing something to make this nation once again a great nation if we don't this country is going to fold.

In Texas, the annual Interest rates and fees of Payday loans or auto title loans can equal several times the value of the original loans. In an article, theeagle.com reports that recently “Texas Rep. Mike Villarreal, D-San Antonio, teamed up with Sen. John Carona, R-Dallas, to file HB 2706 and SB 1247. The identical bills would place many restrictions upon the largely unregulated quick-loan industry, such as limiting the size of a loan based on a consumers' income or vehicle value, limiting the number of times a loan can be refinanced and mandating extended payment plan provisions.” The article states that “The legislation proposes a number of changes, including requiring notices in Spanish and restricting borrowers to one loan at a time per lender. The bill limits payday loans to 25 percent of the consumer's gross monthly income for those whose annual income is less than 125 percent of the federal poverty level for a family of four, and 35 percent for all other consumers.” Support bills HB 2706 and SB 1247. Recent revelations about the administration's guidelines for extra-judicial killing of U.S. citizens lead us to ask: Are America's ethical standards for treatment of its citizens lower than those of Imperial Rome? According to the Book of Acts, Chapter 22, verses 25-29 (NRSV translation), Paul was about to be flogged by a Roman centurion. “But when they had tied him up with thongs, Paul said to the centurion who was standing by, ‘Is it legal for you to flog a Roman citizen who is uncondemned?’ When the centurion heard that, he went to the tribune and said to him, ‘What are you about to do? This man is a Roman citizen.’” [This interchange brought the torture to an immediate halt, because] “the tribune also was afraid, for he realized that Paul was a Roman citizen and that he had bound him.” Whatever casuistry (subtle misuse of ethical principles) or sophistry (arguing to make the worse case look better) is being used by our legal experts, they should know that even ancient precedent speaks against them in this clear breach of our constitution.

Dear Mayor Richard J. Berry It has become an extremely dangerous and deadly situation for our kids to walk across the street to school. I am asking to please give some attention to our future generations of children who are almost being hit by careless and dangerous drivers each day. Not obeying the 20 mph limit (the school zone), not stopping for kids, going around the kids to not wait while kids are in the crosswalk, and kids risking being hit; they must run to make it across a 4 lane boulevard. The school I have witnessed most of this is in front of Cleveland MS, on Louisiana and Natalie. I am asking as a concerned citizen, as taxpayer, and also as a parent. Our kids, this generation doesn't deserve this. We need to do our part to slow down for these kids. 15 - 25 seconds doesn't hurt anyone for a possible future mayor or president. I would suggest the speed be lowered to 15 mph, a crossing guard, and if possible a constant police presence. Help with the success of our future generation be safe on their walk to receive their education.

We hold the First Lady in high regard for her dedication to and advocacy for the health of America’s children. Children on several Native American Reservations in South and North Dakota are in danger from radioactive pollution from abandoned, open-pit uranium mines. The overall health and well being of these children is already compromised by America's worst poverty. Runoff from uranium and other heavy metals is contaminating the water, air and food sources. One mine polluting the Cheyenne River and Standing Rock Reservations puts out radiation nearly four times higher than the damaged Fukushima nuclear plant. Cancer rates among Native Americans in South Dakota run 30% higher than the non-Natives and life expectancy averages age 48. The infant mortality rate runs as high as 25%. We ask you, Mrs. Obama, to bring attention to this critical issue, encourage governmental action to investigate and correct these dangers expeditiously, and to advocate on behalf of these children and their families to the public, legislators and the Executive Branch through the use of your personal voice and your good offices.

Update: On 4/21/25, additional information was leaked exposing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in another Signal chat scandal. News reports revealed that he was sharing sensitive military intel, including detailed operation plans in Yemen, in a chat with his wife, personal lawyer, and others. -----  In March, news broke that Jeffrey Goldberg, editor in chief of The Atlantic, was included in a Signal group chat with top-ranking Trump administration officials, where he then received messages discussing the upcoming military strikes in Yemen.  This compromised sensitive information, and while it might seem like a bad joke, the administration later confirmed the incident and addressed it as an "inadvertent oversight." Pete Hegseth, Trump's Secretary of Defense, updated the chat with details around the strikes in Yemen, including weapons, targets, and timing. We cannot have "oversights" like this when it comes to matters of national security. Anywhere else in the military, an offense like this would warrant some sort of accountability. The same and equal standards must apply to senior military leaders.  That's why there must be a congressional investigation to address this "oversight" immediately.

Trident Wind is a company that wants to erect hundreds, possibly thousands, of 600' diameter giant wind turbines in the waters 20 miles off Morro Bay, the first such offshore wind farm in California waters. In waters off Europe, these turbines have been found to destroy avian migrations through collisions, loss of habitat and through avoidance behaviors. We, the undersigned, believe rooftop solar power is preferable to the massive industrialization of our oceans surface waters by these turbines.
