  • Democrats: Stand strong against Tea Party Republicans
From the government shutdown to the debt ceiling, Tea Party Republicans have wreaked enough havoc on our country. Democrats must stand strong -- demand a vote on a clean continuing resolution to reopen the government -- and don't capitulate on Social Security, Obamacare, or other vital programs like SCRIE and Rent Stabilization in New York City.

  • Mount Prospect ICE OUT Petition
ICE’s operations in Mount Prospect in October, 2025, highlighted glaring gaps in our Village’s responsibility to protect all of its residents from harassment, unlawful detention, discrimination, and family separation. ICE has been empowered to detain individuals simply based on the color of their skin, native language, and employment regardless of their citizenship. Our Village government has the power to do way more to prevent this unprecedented attack on our constitutional rights. We’re asking that the Village adopt the following policies: 1) Create civil immigration enforcement exclusionary zones through visible fixed signs on all village property including village hall, the library branches, schools, parks, fire stations, the police station, and other community centers.  2) Ban the use of face masks by all federal immigration enforcement agents within Village limits and require agents to furnish their badges, names, and credentials upon request, and be equipped with body worn camera. 3) Ban federal immigration enforcement agents from operating vehicles unequipped with license plates. 4) Ban civil immigration enforcement within Village limits without a signed judicial warrant. 5) Create a relief fund for residents who cannot work due to threat of being detained by ICE.

Although I understand the right to bear Arms in this country is part of our freedom which makes this country great! Lately I have seen gun violence escalated to new heights. In the recent years while we are combating terrorist abroad we have had a number or terroristic acts in our homeland being committed by American Citizens against other Americans. The latest weapon of choice for theses assailant is the Bushmaster or the AR-15 which is a modified version of the M-16 used by the Army that is currently being sold in gun shop. • Austin: Reclaim the Promise of Public Education--Our Schools, Our Solutions
Austin wants great neighborhood public schools that are safe and welcoming, are fully funded and have teachers who are well-prepared, are well-supported, and have manageable class sizes and time to collaborate. We want our schools to be centers of our communities and ensure that children and families have access to wraparound services to meet their social, emotional and health needs. We want curriculum that focuses on teaching and learning, not testing, and that includes art, music and the sciences. We want to put the public back in public education. The top-down policies of the last decade have not worked. It's clear that austerity, competition, division and hyper-testing have not and will not help our students. Top-down edicts, sanctions, mass school closures and denigrating teachers will not move the needle in the right direction. Our children and our schools deserve better. We want a new direction for our schools. Teachers, students, parents, community organizations, civil rights advocates and faith leaders recently met in Los Angeles and together endorsed "The Principles That Unite Us." I urge you to sign on to these principles. We need our leaders to stand with us, united around a common vision for our schools. You can read more about the principles here: www.reclaimpublicednow.org/principles

  • "Support Affordable Homes, Build Stronger Communities—Join Us Today!"
Support for the 24-Unit TND Project at 43rd and Mission Road – Economic Benefits Without Taxpayer Burden. Dear Wyandotte County Commissioners and fellow community members: I am writing to express my strong support for the 24-unit Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND) project at **43rd and Mission Road**, a site that has remained vacant for over two decades. This project offers significant economic and community benefits while aligning with the county’s strategic goals for growth and revitalization. Please see a link to our community presentation by clicking here. • No Taxpayer Burden – Funded Through LIHTC • One of the key advantages of this project is that it will be financed using Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), meaning there will be no financial burden on local taxpayers. The LIHTC program allows private investment in affordable housing developments without the need for public funding, making it a fiscally responsible solution to address the county's housing shortage. No Industrial Revenue Bonds  that might short-change the county and city tax rolls. • Immediate and increased Property Tax Revenue • The revitalization of 43rd and Mission Road site will generate immediate and increased property tax revenue. For over 30 years, this property has contributed little to the county's tax base, but the new development will bring significant value, benefiting both the local government and public services. This increase in property taxes will further contribute to the county's ability to fund essential services and improvements.  • Boost in BPU Revenue • As new residents move into the development, there will be a corresponding increase in **utility usage**—particularly for water and electricity—resulting in additional revenue for the **Board of Public Utilities (BPU)**. This project not only provides housing but also contributes to the financial health of local utilities. • Revitalizing Long-Neglected Property • The corner of 43rd and Mission Road has remained an underutilized asset for far too long. By transforming this vacant lot into much-needed affordable housing, the project will breathe new life into the area, supporting the county’s broader vision of urban revitalization while efficiently utilizing existing infrastructure. The staff recommended TND zoning will allow for efficient use of the land and promote sustainability and walkability in the neighborhood. The project could also draw attentional attention to the cross-town light rail plan for the 43rd Street corridor.  This project provides a unique opportunity to address Wyandotte County’s pressing need for affordable housing, increase property tax revenue, and boost utility revenues—all without placing any additional burden on taxpayers. I respectfully urge the Commission to approve and support this transformative development. Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration. Sincerely, Eliot Arnold Beachwood Holdings, LLC

  • Tell Attorney General Jeff Sessions to Mandate Malpractice Insurance for Law Enforcement Officers!
We, the taxpayers, can no longer pay out massive settlements for negligent law enforcement officers. A mandate on malpractice insurance is absolutely necessary in order to: (1) ensure accountability; (2) encourage best practice; and (3) deter misconduct.
