Mount Prospect ICE OUT Petition

ICE’s operations in Mount Prospect in October, 2025, highlighted glaring gaps in our Village’s responsibility to protect all of its residents from harassment, unlawful detention, discrimination, and family separation. ICE has been empowered to detain individuals simply based on the color of their skin, native language, and employment regardless of their citizenship. Our Village government has the power to do way more to prevent this unprecedented attack on our constitutional rights.

We’re asking that the Village adopt the following policies:

1) Create civil immigration enforcement exclusionary zones through visible fixed signs on all village property including village hall, the library branches, schools, parks, fire stations, the police station, and other community centers.

2) Ban the use of face masks by all federal immigration enforcement agents within Village limits and require agents to furnish their badges, names, and credentials upon request, and be equipped with body worn camera.

3) Ban federal immigration enforcement agents from operating vehicles unequipped with license plates.

4) Ban civil immigration enforcement within Village limits without a signed judicial warrant.

5) Create a relief fund for residents who cannot work due to threat of being detained by ICE.

Why is this important?

The far right is scapegoating noncitizen residents as the source for every problem facing the United States. In turn, the Supreme Court has green-lit the indiscriminate detention of our neighbors based solely on skin color, native language, and employment, regardless of citizenship status. However, our Constitution protects everyone, regardless of citizenship status. It is time that our Village ensures everyone is equally protected during these unprecedented times.
