Preserve a JP Landmark & Create a More Affordable Jamaica Plain! The Monastery of St. Clare, also known as Poor Clare Nuns Monastery, is located in a 90-year-old purpose-built structure located at 920 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, Boston. This beautiful and historic building is at risk of demolition, so that a private developer can build expensive, exclusive luxury buildings—rather than what the community really needs: more affordable housing. We are calling on the City of Boston, the Landmarks Commission, and the Boston Planning and Development Agency to: - Preserve and protect a Jamaica Plain landmark with rich regional and national significance; - Conduct an equitable and accessible community planning process for the re-use of 920 Centre Street; - Take into account the strong need for affordable housing in the Ponds/Hills section of JP as it considers proposed future plans for the building and the parcel; and, - Require that housing on the parcel include at least 25% affordable units at deeply affordable levels. The current structure and any new construction on this parcel of land must include substantial affordable housing, in line with the inclusionary zoning requirements adopted by the JP Neighborhood Council, to preserve the diversity and meet the needs of Jamaica Plain and Boston.177 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Jaya Aiyer

News media: STOP racism and sexism in your Kamala Harris election reporting NOW!In the 72 hours since it was announced that President Biden was stepping down from the presidential campaign and Kamala Harris emerged as the new prospective Democratic nominee, irresponsible journalism touting racist and sexist dog whistles have already been published. We don't have to repeat the tired tropes and offensive attacks being wielded against Harris. We've heard them all before. When Harris was selected as vice president on Biden's presidential ticket, 61% of news coverage mentioned her race or gender, and 25% of the coverage included sexist or racist stereotyping. It's unacceptable. We can't let history repeat itself. It's time to rein in the media and demand fair and unbiased reporting, because we know that as Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans lose their grip on power, the attacks against Kamala are only going to get worse. We must come together to condemn and call out the racism, misogynoir, and sexism that the media and MAGA Republicans have thrown and will continue to throw Harris’s way to appeal to their base. Will you sign the petition to put news media on notice by demanding that they address the racism and sexism in election reporting NOW?58,752 of 75,000 Signatures

Apologize and Skip Trump's State of the Union in Solidarity with the U.S. Women's Hockey Team!Update 2/25/26 - The U.S. men's hockey team has doubled down, attending Trump's State of the Union on Tuesday and refusing to acknowledge the negative impact of their actions on not only members of the women's hockey team, but all women and girls in sports who were watching and witnessing the team's dismissiveness and mockery. We deserve better. Add your name to the petition to make it clear: We won't allow them to brush this aside. We will continue to demand a public apology from the U.S. men's hockey team! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- When President Donald Trump invited the U.S. men's hockey team to the State of the Union address, he followed the invitation with: "I must tell you, we're gonna have to bring the women's team, you do know that. I do believe I probably would be impeached." The entire room of men laughed. There's no excuse for the U.S. men's team—as well as the president and FBI director—using their platforms to undermine, mock, and denigrate women athletes. The women's hockey team has made it clear they won't be attending the State of the Union. Now the men’s hockey team must apologize publicly, and do the same!25,680 of 30,000 Signatures

Immediate Release and Justice for Vietnamese Human Rights Defender Trịnh Bá PhươngWe, the undersigned, urgently call upon the Government of Vietnam, the United Nations, and international human rights organizations to intervene in the case of Vietnamese human rights defender Trịnh Bá Phương, who is facing unjust persecution and imprisonment for his peaceful advocacy of land and human rights. Background • Trịnh Bá Phương is a well-known human rights activist from a family of land rights defenders. Since his family’s land was confiscated in 2008, he, alongside his parents and siblings, has courageously spoken out against abuses and defended the rights of farmers and vulnerable communities in Vietnam. • In 2021, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison under Article 117 of the Penal Code (“anti-state propaganda”) for peacefully criticizing government policies. • His mother, Cấn Thị Thêu, and younger brother, Trịnh Bá Tư, are also serving 8-year prison sentences on similar charges. This is the third time that Cấn Thị Thêu has been imprisoned for her human rights advocacy. New Developments • In April 2025, the authorities in Quảng Nam Province initiated a new case against Mr. Trịnh Bá Phương under Article 117, Clause 1, alleging that he authored protest banners found inside his prison cell. The banners, which read: “Down with the Vietnamese Communist Party for violating human rights”, were used as evidence despite Mr. Phương’s clear denial of authorship. • On September 27, 2025, he was subjected to a second trial under the same article. Although labeled a “public trial,” his family members, representatives of the European Union, and foreign embassies were denied access. The trial lasted only two hours and resulted in an additional 11-year prison sentence, bringing his total sentence to 21 years in prison. • This marks the first time in Vietnam’s history that a citizen has been prosecuted and imprisoned twice under the same article of the Penal Code. • After the trial, former prisoner of conscience Nguyễn Bắc Truyển, now living in exile in Germany, publicly confirmed that he, not Mr. Phương, had written the banners in question when they were imprisoned together. The use of these banners as fabricated evidence represents a grave miscarriage of justice. Our Concerns We are deeply concerned that: 1. Mr. Trịnh Bá Phương is being targeted for his peaceful human rights advocacy, in violation of international human rights standards. 2. The repeated use of Article 117 against him demonstrates systematic abuse of vague national security laws to silence dissent. 3. His ongoing imprisonment under harsh conditions, along with the imprisonment of his family members, constitutes collective punishment and amounts to cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment. 4. The exclusion of family members, foreign diplomats, and independent observers from his trial violated due process rights and fair trial standards under international law. Our Demands We call on: The Government of Vietnam to: • Immediately and unconditionally release Trịnh Bá Phương, his mother Cấn Thị Thêu, and his brother Trịnh Bá Tư. • Quash the recent September 27, 2025 conviction, which was based on fabricated evidence. • Cease the use of Article 117 and other vague national security provisions to criminalize peaceful expression and human rights advocacy. The United Nations, European Union, and international human rights organizations to: • Urgently investigate the case of Trịnh Bá Phương and his family. • Demand Vietnam uphold its obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), to which it is a state party. • Increase international pressure on the Vietnamese government to release all prisoners of conscience and end the persecution of human rights defenders. Conclusion The case of Trịnh Bá Phương is a clear example of judicial harassment and political persecution in Vietnam. His unjust imprisonment not only violates his fundamental rights but also sends a chilling message to all those who dare to speak out for justice and human rights in Vietnam. We urge immediate international attention and action to secure his release and protect the rights of all human rights defenders in Vietnam.501 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Grace Bui
