  • Kamala Harris is right: Ban price gouging nationwide!
Kamala Harris just announced that a Harris-Walz administration would work to set a federal price gouging ban in the grocery and the food industry within its first 100 days. THIS IS HUGE.  We've all seen prices go up on essential goods in the grocery stores over the past few years, but let's be very clear: That's not accidental and it's because of corporate greed, plain and simple. Corporate execs have taken advantage of working-and-middle class people, adjusting their salaries and boosting stocks for stakeholders, while workers received nothing. It doesn't help that Trump and his MAGA 2017 tax agenda have given tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy across the country, while raising costs and taxes for the rest of us.  But now, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz want to put an end to those rising costs. Not only is this relevant for people today, it's historic. This would be the first-ever federal ban on price gouging on food and groceries—making it clear to all that big corporations cannot and will not exploit us any longer. Food and groceries are not a want, but a necessity for every person.

  • Immediate Release and Justice for Vietnamese Human Rights Defender Trịnh Bá Phương
We, the undersigned, urgently call upon the Government of Vietnam, the United Nations, and international human rights organizations to intervene in the case of Vietnamese human rights defender Trịnh Bá Phương, who is facing unjust persecution and imprisonment for his peaceful advocacy of land and human rights. Background • Trịnh Bá Phương is a well-known human rights activist from a family of land rights defenders. Since his family’s land was confiscated in 2008, he, alongside his parents and siblings, has courageously spoken out against abuses and defended the rights of farmers and vulnerable communities in Vietnam. • In 2021, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison under Article 117 of the Penal Code (“anti-state propaganda”) for peacefully criticizing government policies. • His mother, Cấn Thị Thêu, and younger brother, Trịnh Bá Tư, are also serving 8-year prison sentences on similar charges. This is the third time that Cấn Thị Thêu has been imprisoned for her human rights advocacy. New Developments • In April 2025, the authorities in Quảng Nam Province initiated a new case against Mr. Trịnh Bá Phương under Article 117, Clause 1, alleging that he authored protest banners found inside his prison cell. The banners, which read: “Down with the Vietnamese Communist Party for violating human rights”, were used as evidence despite Mr. Phương’s clear denial of authorship. • On September 27, 2025, he was subjected to a second trial under the same article. Although labeled a “public trial,” his family members, representatives of the European Union, and foreign embassies were denied access. The trial lasted only two hours and resulted in an additional 11-year prison sentence, bringing his total sentence to 21 years in prison. • This marks the first time in Vietnam’s history that a citizen has been prosecuted and imprisoned twice under the same article of the Penal Code. • After the trial, former prisoner of conscience Nguyễn Bắc Truyển, now living in exile in Germany, publicly confirmed that he, not Mr. Phương, had written the banners in question when they were imprisoned together. The use of these banners as fabricated evidence represents a grave miscarriage of justice. Our Concerns We are deeply concerned that: 1. Mr. Trịnh Bá Phương is being targeted for his peaceful human rights advocacy, in violation of international human rights standards. 2. The repeated use of Article 117 against him demonstrates systematic abuse of vague national security laws to silence dissent. 3. His ongoing imprisonment under harsh conditions, along with the imprisonment of his family members, constitutes collective punishment and amounts to cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment. 4. The exclusion of family members, foreign diplomats, and independent observers from his trial violated due process rights and fair trial standards under international law. Our Demands We call on: The Government of Vietnam to: • Immediately and unconditionally release Trịnh Bá Phương, his mother Cấn Thị Thêu, and his brother Trịnh Bá Tư. • Quash the recent September 27, 2025 conviction, which was based on fabricated evidence. • Cease the use of Article 117 and other vague national security provisions to criminalize peaceful expression and human rights advocacy. The United Nations, European Union, and international human rights organizations to: • Urgently investigate the case of Trịnh Bá Phương and his family. • Demand Vietnam uphold its obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), to which it is a state party. • Increase international pressure on the Vietnamese government to release all prisoners of conscience and end the persecution of human rights defenders. Conclusion The case of Trịnh Bá Phương is a clear example of judicial harassment and political persecution in Vietnam. His unjust imprisonment not only violates his fundamental rights but also sends a chilling message to all those who dare to speak out for justice and human rights in Vietnam. We urge immediate international attention and action to secure his release and protect the rights of all human rights defenders in Vietnam.

  • Let's solarize the Santa Fe Airport!
In the wake of the devastating storms in Texas , the Caribbean, and South Asia, I applaud the City’s commitment to climate change mitigation. Our City’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2040 is commendable and attainable. I applaud the Mayor’s leadership in the coalition of Climate Mayors. I was pleased to learn that the implementation of this commitment took an important step forward this month with the scheduling of a feasibility study to assess how Santa Fe can power all municipal facilities with renewable energy by 2025 that could help our City exceed the targets it set three years ago by City Council resolution to achieve 50 percent renewable energy by 2025. The City has experienced the cost-saving and benefits of solar from its installations at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center, the Buckman Direct Diversion Project, the Community Convention Center, the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and its Cerrillos Road Firestation — which are collectively producing more than 4.8 megawatts of renewable energy, allowing for the repurposing of electricity dollars, and displacing coal and nuclear energy from PNM. We appreciate the City’s articulation of the benefits of solar in its announcement on August 31st including local job and economic growth, as well as local control and ownership of the city’s energy options. For these reasons, it is essential that the City evaluate the feasibility of solarizing the Santa Fe Airport as part of the Santa Fe Municipal Airport Master Plan that is currently being finalized and will be voted on by Council in September. The Master Plan identified approximately $30 million in capital improvement needs at Santa Fe Municipal Airport and articulates short, mid, and long-term development opportunities. While the Santa Fe Municipal Airport serves as a vital economic asset for the City of Santa Fe and surrounding region I agree that its “development should be carefully and thoughtfully planned and subsequently developed in a manner which matches the development goals of the community” as stated in the Plan’s Executive Summary. At present, the only green feature of the airport planned is LED lighting for the runways. However, the airport represents a huge opportunity to showcase the benefits of solar and our City’s leadership in the renewable energy transition and green economy to thousands of visitors from around the world who will be flying in from above every year – and could have their first impression of our fine City marked by a beautiful array of solar panels covering the parking lot. Further, solarizing the airport will offset some of the carbon footprint of the airport operations. The plan states that it “provides the tools that the City of Santa Fe will need to meet the challenges of the future.” As we know from the last few week's tragic events – climate change represents one of the gravest challenges of our future and the City must do its part to actively and boldly lead the transition.

  • Keep the Cameras Off Our Streets
People of Hollister, California thank you for reading this and taking the time to actually get an idea of what is going on. I do not wish to start violence or anger anyone, however, i will not be silenced in this time of need. Cameras have been placed all over the country, checkpoints violation our rights to freedom to move between states unharassed (in the constitution by the way). Hollister is now choosing to further encroach on our freedoms by placing cameras in the dowtown area by July 4th 2014. This is an outrage and although it may not seem like a big deal, it is only the beginning of many violations to come. Let us stop it hear before the snowball effect happens and it is too late! Stop filming us 24/7 cameras do not stop crime, people do! Please understand this only makes us less powerful as people and understand that cameras DO NOT AFFECT CRIME. Everyone sign this petition and express your feelings and concerns because those who care will listen and those who don't can get out of office to make room for those who do! Thank you to those who listened when there was a voice to be heard no matter how small, We The People

  • Protect our reproductive rights from MAGA attacks!
Congressman Lawler, Women’s right to control their own health care and life decisions is currently at extreme risk from undue governmental interference. Therefore, as your constituents in the NY-17 CD, the undersigned call on you to cosponsor and actively support the Women's Health Protection Act to codify Roe into federal law and to cosponsor and support the Freedom to Decide Act to protect access to the abortion pill and ensure doctors can provide telemedicine services across state lines to people in need of health care. Saturday, June 24 is the 1-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision, which overturned an almost 50-year constitutional right—in fact, the first time the Supreme Court has removed an individual right. Since that decision was handed down, 14 states have banned abortions, and about half of the states are expected to enact abortion bans or significant limits on the procedure. Ending a pregnancy is a personal and private decision—often entailing issues of life and death—that must be returned to the control of the pregnant people. To mark the anniversary of the day women lost the right to their personal liberty and ability to control their lives, it is incumbent on you to do everything you can to restore that right.
