  • Rep. Roskam: Why did you vote to cut $300 billion from schools?
We're stunned and disappointed that you voted for a federal budget that would cut $300 billion in education funding over the next decade. During this August recess, we'd like you to explain your vote to your constituents.

  • Don't rig presidential elections by changing the Electoral College
I urge you to reject the Corbett Scheme to change the way Electoral College votes are allocated in Pennsylvania. Do not vote to change the Electoral College to make it even less representative of the will of the people than it already is.

  • Major Pete Buttigieg, Superior Court, Indiana Bar Association: Injustice in the court system
"Stop injustice in the court system". After my case was ruined, I followed up with a letter, first, to Rep. Joe Donnelly, who referred me to Rep. Craig Fry, who then, described to me that it was out of his purview as a state legislator, who, in turn, referred me to the Indiana Attorney General, Greg Zoeller. I filed a Consumer Complaint Form and sent all my legal paper work to Mr. Zoeller. His response to me was that he has no jurisdiction over this matter. I have totally exhausted all avenues legally and felt I had no recourse but to file this petition. I feel this is important to mention: I was told by my disbarred attorney and an ex-fraud officer while attending IUSB that this was most certainly investment fraud. Not only did I lose $10,000 on the investment, and $1,344.00 to my attorney, but, the man was never prosecuted! Also, Tim Corbet and David Jewel, private investigators, here in Indiana, at the time I made the investment, were aware of the situation I was in with this man and told me that they had been watching him for years and to make a case against him. I recently, spoke with Tim Corbett by phone on 9/26/12 and 10/01/12 to make him aware of my dilema and that I never recovered my money. He claimed to not recall the incident very well at that time. The money I invested was all I had left of my fathers inheiritance and the money I gave to my attorney was all I had left in my bank account. I have been on social security disability for over 7 years and I am $10,500.00 in credit card debt and have deferred student loans for years in the amount of $26,043.00 looming in the future. I needed that money back and now I have no hope of ever getting it. I have done all the research and investigative work on this case for years and have gotten no help from anyone who were suppose to be experts in their jobs. I have spent alot of time and money trying to find a solution and when I reached out for assistance all I got was blank walls! I have lost all confidence in the legal system, there is no help for the people who can't afford an attorney. I had no money to get an attorney at first, so I filed a complaint in Superior Court and it sat there for years until I finally had the money for legal counsel. I tried to get a pro bono and no one was available, even at Notre Dame. In conclusion, I have never been through anything so horrific in my lifetime and I have lived in many states. This has ruined me financially and almost ruined my life. It has taken my joy and has left me bitter and untrusting of people in general. I take full responsibily for making the investment and I have to live with the outcome. I tried to help someone and he was suppose to help me. Instead, he saw an opportunity, took my money, and then it was all about him. I have learned a hard lesson and I hope you will sign this petition so no one else will ever have to go through this.

  • Lies Won't Bring Back Teacher Jobs
Some people think that money can buy you the truth. Americans for Prosperity and Civitas apparently think that nearly half a million dollars in TV ads can convince North Carolinians that the state budget passed by lawmakers in 2011 “protected teachers” while slashing 28 percent or $459 million from public school funding. The facts say otherwise and we know that so far 915 teacher jobs and 2,042 teacher assistant jobs have been lost because of the budget passed by lawmakers in 2011. Unfortunately, lies aren’t going to bring those jobs back. What’s more, that same state budget also cut taxes for wealthy individuals and corporations to the tune of $200 million. Those aren’t real solutions, those are grossly misplaced priorities. We urge Americans for Prosperity and Civitas to stop their lies and start respecting North Carolina’s hard-working educators and families.

  • Mr. President, Veto H.R. 347 to ensure the right to free assembly!
Dear President Obama, We, the undersigned, find that the passage of the bill H.R. 347 also known as "The Anti-Occupy Bill" is a direct affront to the constitutional right to freedom of assembly and freedom of the press. We ask that you stand on the side of the American public and NOT on the side of Corporate intrests who would curtail our right to protest for their own financial interests. Mr. President, Please VETO H.R.347!

  • Petition to the Timilty Middle School & Boston Public Schools: Sex Education & Counselors NOW!
Our Demands: Mandatory sex and consent education at the Timilty Middle School and all BPS schools Training for staff and administrators on sexual assault at Timilty Middle School and all BPS schools The Timilty School and all schools in the BPS system must hire licensed school counselors to meet the America School Counselor Association’s guidelines of at least one counselor for every 250 students. This would mean at least two counselors at the Timilty School, which currently has none. Please sign this petition demanding that BPS meet these demands. We deserve a better BPS, one that is anti-sexist and doesn’t tolerate rhetoric about “boys being boys” to justify sexual assault, harassmnet, and other harmful things to our children’s development. Sex Education at BPS! All Schools Deserve Counselors!
