  • Ban Gun Shows at Westchester County Center
Please permanently ban all gun shows at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY. In 1999, gun shows were banned by former County Executive Andrew Spano in the wake of the mass shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado. You also banned them temporarily in 2012 after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, when 20 students and six staff members were killed. As Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner has said, it is not the place of government to encourage gun ownership. Please respect the wishes of Westchester residents, parents, students, and taxpayers who do not wish to see our county buildings used to promote and facilitate gun sales.

  • Justice for Dadrian
My 14 yr old Nephew was accused of being a party to a crime. While walking through the neighborhood with a small group of teens. While in their presence, some of the other teens assaulted and robbed another teen. When arrested his name was given as being a party to a crime. After months of court dates, Dadrian was sentenced to 12 months at a youth detention Center on a first offense conviction. Dadrian's only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong group of people. While this may certainly be seen as being punishable, His sentence is not suitable to his crime. Dadrian is a smart, young youth who has always respected his peers, elderly, and environment. He is also an honor roll student who participates frequently in after school and extracurricular activities. Being raised by a single mom he helps take care of his two younger siblings and attends church regularly. Dadrian is a strong young man who stands up for what he believes in and an even stronger man because he stands up for others. Even in doing so, consequently, he was wrongly accused based on his environment at the time instead of his environment as a whole. Help Dadrian receive a more suitable punishment and a second chance to a productive lifestyle.

  • We don't (heart) WestAmerica
Whereas, the now abandoned dance hall widely known and revered as Little Switzerland may soon be facing destruction by totally indiscriminate, greed-stricken and mindless land-grabbers who financially aggrandize themselves by voraciously buying up distressed businesses and land, in collusion with the predatory bank, WestAmerica, which can write a blank government check to itself for falsely claimed "losses" due to foreclosure, we the undersigned do hereby demand a complete and thorough investigation into WestAmerica's acquisition of Little Switzerland and its real property.

  • Tell Our Senators to Support the HEROES in Our Schools
To get our children back to school safely, we need the Senate to pass the critical pieces of the House of Representatives’ HEROES Act: $1 trillion for state and local services like public safety, healthcare and education, including at least $100 billion for our public schools so they can prepare to reopen safely, test for illness, follow the guidance of medical experts and provide the academic, social and emotional supports all our children need to recover from this pandemic. Tell the Senate not to forfeit our future: invest in public education and public services and support the HEROES Act.

  • The George Floyd Protection Act
Minneapolis police policy allows “neck restraints” but only when a suspect is “actively resisting” and experts say the pressure should be released quickly. This policy is likely the same across this country and is highly practiced and abused at a disproportionate rate against black and brown men. Applying this technique without regard for established policy is criminal and the disproportionate rate in which it is being used on black and brown men is alarming. This petition is requesting your support in the establishment of "The George Floyd Protection Act" to add a layer of protection around this targeted population, banning this practice from all police policies across this country, as well as punishing bad actors who've taken an oath to protect and serve but instead cause death by leveraging their body weight on the "heads and necks" of suspects who are in "FULL SUBMISSION." This petition is pleading for constraints and accountability for these bad actors. The George Floyd Protection Act will deem the continued use of this deadly neck constraint unconstitutional and those who continue to practice resulting in death chargeable with a Class A felony punishable with fines and imprisonment. George Floyd had constitutional rights, which should have protected him and was innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Supporting the establishment of this law will make a difference and protect the constitutional and civil rights of this targeted group of minorities in hopes of preventing another wife, mother, daughter, or son having to endure pain and suffering due to unconstitutional practices of the police. George Floyd's death should not be in vain. This act is desperately needed to hold these bad actors accountable which will be a deterrent for other officers who have a blatant disregard for black and brown men's rights to live.
