  • American Missionary Wants Her Package
I filled out all the paperwork, even got my priest-director's friend in La Paz to try to get it but the fee just kept going up and up. They call it rent. The officials in La Paz took the candy my friend Andrea Hess had lovingly put in there for the kids because they were now outdated. There were clothes and gifts for the kids and even some meds for the girls' acne and for their teeth. It cost Andrea a lot of money to fill up the box and ship it but she knew that we were all having challenges adjusting to our new life and she wanted to make it as pleasant as possible. I am not here to proselytize but more to help the street kids because there is no place for them to go. I am in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and I would love for President Obama now that there is diplomatic relations at last between the two countries to please help. It is just a box but it was filled with lots of care and the children, ages 12, 14, 15, 18 and I would love to have it.

  • GISD Equity Audit
The Future is US is a grant-funded non-profit organization and collaboration focused on dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline in the Galveston Independent School District (GISD). The school-to-prison pipeline affects students of color, especially Black students. students with disabilities, LGBTQ+ students, and more – making it harder for students to fulfill their academic potential. GISD conducted an equity audit last school year, where they had researchers from The University of Texas A&M gather and analyze school discipline from the GISD K-12 classrooms, yet the audit has not been released. The Future is US took the initiative to conduct their own equity audit which revealed that Black students were 3x more likely to be taken out of their classrooms than their white peers. In fact, minority students in general are more likely to be removed from the classroom for discretionary, and often unfair reasons, receive strict and overly harsh punishments, and become “repeat offenders” because of administration’s implicit bias that causes them to focus more on minorities when looking for troublemakers.

  • KEEP AI OUT OF CU
ChatGPT: Donates to Trump and helps ICE murder civilians. Can consume up to 5 million gallons of freshwater per day. Has a projected electricity demand of 130 GW (or 1,050 TWh) by 2030, which would represent close to 12% of total U.S. annual demand. Actively decreases learning ability and cognitive skills. Violates the UCCS core values of being "..financially responsible, academically sound, and environmentally sustainable." Makes our school look like a joke. The ends of gen-AI use do not justify the environmental, economic, and social means. "Mitigation" is useless when the impact is so massive and the product is so unnecessary. Students: Commit to not use ChatGPT, and make yourselves loud and heard. We do not want this. Faculty: Commit to not using ChatGPT in your classroom. Make yourself heard as well. ADMINISTRATION: Know that we, as CU, reject this so-called "investment" and do not want it in our classrooms. Students do not want our tuition money to pay for an environmentally damaging product that is funding hatred and murder.

  • Teaching True African American History in Context
As African American Adults and people of good will, we believe that African American History is vital to the development of African American children. As a result of our belief and as tax paying citizens, it is our contention that African American Children have a right to learn about who they are and their true contextual history. African American tax dollars should be used to accomplish this learning objective.

  • LivingSocial must stop mixing assault weapons and alcohol
Profiting from the packaging of AK47 shooting sprees with an evening of bourbon shots is not only dangerous, it’s repugnant. Your competitors have already dropped these dangerous offers. Remove them from your site immediately and promise not to offer them again.

  • Save world-class science education standards in Oklahoma!
We urge you to oppose HJR 1099, anti-science legislation that would deny Oklahoma students access to a world-class science education, all due to irrational objections to nominal climate science content in the standards. HJR 1099 rejects the unanimous recommendation made by the Oklahoma State Board of Education to adopt Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science, which were developed by a team of 59 Oklahoma educators, scientists, engineers, and parents over the last year. More than 500 educators reviewed the standards, which then received extensive public input before being unanimously approved for adoption by the Oklahoma State Board of Education. If this move to censor science education is successful, Oklahoma standards will revert to the current, outdated standards that are in urgent need of upgrading. This would be a tremendous disservice to Oklahoma kids, who deserve access to the highest quality science education available, including climate science. Please stand up for the best interests of Oklahoma kids by rejecting HJR 1099 and supporting the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science without further political interference.

  • Stop the Megaloads
I urge the US Forest Service to enforce its jurisdiction over megaload shipments across the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest. The scientific process should be adhered to before the authorization of transport is allowed; This would include a complete assessment of the possible impacts from megaload transportation through the pristine scenic corridor, including tribal lands, recreation areas, historical sites, and other indispensable lands. The environmental and public welfare injustices will have long lasting effects that cannot be repaired through financial settlements.
