  • UDC visiting policy change
Current UDC visiting policy. 1st disciplinary conviction results in NON CONTACT visits for a period of 4. MONTHS. 2nd disciplinary conviction shall result in NON CONTACT visiting for a period of 1yr. Third or subsequent disciplinary conviction shall result in NON CONTACT visiting for a period of 2 consecutive years! TWO years of NON CONTACT restrictions will be added for each subsequent conviction. Inmates also get punished by being fined, losing their job or a chance to get a job, unable to enroll in classes or VTs, personal property taken away, level decrease. At yet these write ups never fall off,yet they continued to be re punished for disciplinary convictions no matter how many years apart they are from each other. You speak of rehabilitation anytime you are asked about incarcerated individuals. Rehabilitation means the action of restoring someone to former privileged or reputation after a period of disfavor. To help them live a normal life. Yet you continue to punish them by taking away one of the most important things for rehabilitation. FAMILY CONNECTION. Family support has shown decreased rates of recidivism following imprisonment, improved mental health. People who received visits during incarceration, felony re-convictions were 13% lower and revocations for technical violations of parole were 25%fewer compared to people who lack in person family contact. It also seems incarcerated individuals with longer sentences get punished more. Their punishment is the sentence they receive to have to look over their shoulder everyday, and to wonder if today is going to be their last day, their last conversation with a loved one. I ask you to chang your visiting policy.Family is the only support incarcerated individuals have.

  • No Pay Raise for Congress After Republicans Blocked a Pay Raise for Parents!
Stand with us to tell the House Speaker and House Republicans that they don't deserve an $8,000 pay raise after blocking a $3,600 pay raise for parents! Last year, every single Republican voted to end sending parents up to $300 every month to make it more affordable to start a family. While the expanded Child Tax Credit was in place, it was a 1000% return on investment, with $10 spent in the economy for every $1 spent on working families, and if it were in place for another year, it would lead to the creation of 500,000 full-time private sector jobs. But, now, House Republicans are moving to line their own pockets with taxpayer dollars instead of boosting the country's economy. The expanded Child Tax Credit payments aligned naturally with the way many working families budget — month by month — and their reliability reduced household stress and enabled parents to work, plan, and provide for their children and communities. Parents were twice as likely to stop short-term payday loans, using pawnshops, or even selling their plasma to make ends meet. They reported starting new professional trainings while receiving the credit, helping them run their own small businesses or start one. With their $3,600 pay raise, the overwhelming majority of parents reported spending payments on the basics for their kids — food, rent, utilities, clothing, and education — helping lift 4 million children from poverty. In total, 61 million children across the country benefitted from the expanded Child Tax Credit, leading to an immediate 25% drop in food insufficiency rates, meaning fewer kids went hungry and more were eating healthier meals. Republicans, however, took that away. Add your name to join us. It's time for the House Speaker and House Republicans to raise parents' pay before their own!

  • INDUSTRIAL SOLAR = NOT CLEAN ENERGY
This is an urgent and unprecedented matter that needs your full attention at this very moment. A Boston Globe article published at the end of December 2021 highlights that New England is heating up faster than anywhere else on the planet. Industrial solar facilities are adding heat into our atmosphere and disrupting the climate. Studies in many deserts have proven that large industrial solar arrays heat up the air around them. I will cite those articles shortly. I have reached out to professors from Boston University, Yale, Salem State, Harvard, Maryland University, and Lancaster to request immediate testing on industrial solar facilities in New England, because no studies have been released documenting what industrial solar companies are doing to our climate here, in our backyards. I live in Conway, Ma, with my husband and two children, and we as well as our neighbors have been directly affected by one of these large industrial solar arrays installed by the company NeXamp. My neighbors and I urge you to take away subsidy benefits for solar companies such as NeXamp that clear-cut forests while touting they are promoting “clean energy.” What they are doing is the exact opposite of clean energy. We have been exposed to a thing called "dirty electricity" from their solar array, and this is extremely harmful to human health, mentally and physically! Their solar array has been shut down by Eversource until they "figure out" the problem! The high-frequency electrical noise is awful, and it comes out of our light-bulbs, outlets, and many other electrical devises.

  • Make CT Votes Matter in Presidential Elections - Join National Popular Vote Compact
The Connecticut General Assembly should pass HB 5434 to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. By doing so, Connecticut will no longer be a spectator state in presidential elections; every vote cast for president will matter.

  • Stop the worst environmental disaster since the BP oil spill!
The massive LA gas leak is a ticking time bomb. It continues to poison Los Angeles’ Porter Ranch neighborhood with cancer-causing chemicals and is releasing enormous amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. This is a disaster with national impact, and it is time for the federal leadership to step in and do everything possible to stop the leak.

  • Gov. Snyder: Protect Michigan elections, Veto SB 13
Veto Senate Bill 13. This bill will remove straight ticket voting, making it so there will be much longer lines at polling places on major elections and disenfranchise Michigan voters.

  • Trump: Meet with Mueller!
We, the American people, demand that you meet with special counsel Robert Mueller and answer his questions about possible conspiracy with the Russian government to influence the 2016 presidential election and obstruction of justice to cover it up. It’s imperative that federal investigators have all the information they need to get to the truth.

  • Jeff Sessions Motion of No Confidence
I call for an immediate vote of No Confidence concerning Attorney General of the United States Jeff Sessions over his flagrant fueling of racial and political divide in this nation. I take his recent offensive comments as a threat to a fair and balanced enforcement of law and a threat to all races of this nation other than those of "Anglo-American" heritage. There is no way possible for a man with these belief sets to be able to fairly preside over the Attorney General's duties.
