  • Support HoCo 1-25 with Original Amendments!
We, the undersigned employees, students, and community members at Howard Community College are writing to support the testimony of our HCC allies given to the Howard County Delegation on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025. We affirm that their testimony regarding the working conditions at HCC accurately reflects our experiences and difficulties over the last three years. We strongly support HoCo 1-25 with its amendments and thank our faculty colleagues in representing all of us in their advocacy for this bill. We stand with them in urging you to pass this important legislation. The incidents that occurred on February 5th – both the explicit and intentional removal of union signage from faculty offices and the outlandish attempt to slander our fellow colleagues to the Howard County Delegation – are clear evidence of the necessity of this bill (HoCo 1-25/SB 813) with all of its original amendments.

  • Block the Kroger and Albertsons $25 billion merger
We are calling on the the Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division to block the $25 billion merger between Kroger and Albertsons. Together, these companies own dozens of chains, including Safeway, Vons, Harris Teeter and Fred Meyer and reach a combined 85 million households. The deal would squeeze consumers already struggling to afford food force out competition and concentrate power among the largest chains, driving up prices.

  • Raise the legal age to buy a gun to 25
An 18 year old is still a child. It is a proven fact that our brains are still developing well into our 20’s. I urge you to take a small step in the direction of curbing mass shootings, by raising the legal age limit of purchasing firearms from 18 to 25. No civilian 18 year old has any use of an automatic weapon. Not ONE reason, except to kill something or someone. Please make it harder for these kids to buy firearms and pass this law. Its a small step in the right direction.
