  • Stop Fracked Gas Export on the Delaware River
Plans are moving forward in New Jersey for a massive new fracked gas project that will threaten our climate, environment, and public health. New Fortress Energy and Delaware River Partners want to expand the deepwater port terminal in Gibbstown, Gloucester County, NJ across from Chester, PA to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) overseas for sale. Shale gas would be extracted from fracking wells in PA and piped to a New Fortress processing plant being built in Wyalusing, Bradford County, PA on the Susquehanna River. Tank trucks and/or trains would carry this hazardous LNG over 200 miles through populated areas to Gibbstown daily. Huge shipping vessels would transport it down the river, passing Delaware and NJ and through the Bay to ports proposed by New Fortress in Ireland, Puerto Rico, and beyond. This project would be a disaster for Delaware River communities. Every day, up to 1,650 truck trips and/or 100 rail cars would come into Gibbstown, worsening air pollution in a region that doesn’t meet EPA standards for ozone. LNG will be loaded onto ships continuously, 24/7, 365 days per year, putting communities at risk from explosion. And water quality, endangered species, such as Atlantic and shortnose sturgeon, and rare, vulnerable habitats for many animals and plants are threatened by the terminal and dredging. The entire New Fortress scheme is an untested, convoluted project that will only serve special private interests, will cause destructive pollution every step of its way and will increase methane emissions that will worsen our national and global climate crisis. We call on the Delaware River Basin Commission to put a stop to this disastrous plan now!

  • Dress Code Fairness For All Students
Petition to Revise the New Dress Code Policy** To Gadsen County High School Administration, We, the students of Gadsen County High, are writing to express our concerns regarding the recent changes to the dress code policy implemented by the new principal. The new rule, which mandates that all students can’t wear dresses, skirts or shorts, has caused significant discomfort and dissatisfaction among the student body. **Reasons for Revising the Dress Code:** 1. **Comfort and Personal Expression**: The ability to choose our attire, within reasonable guidelines, is important for our comfort and personal expression. Limiting us to only wearing pants restricts our ability to express ourselves and feel comfortable in our school environment. 2. **Cultural and Religious Considerations**: Some students may have cultural or religious reasons for wearing specific types of clothing. The new policy does not take these important considerations into account. 3. **Weather and Practicality**: Wearing pants exclusively may not be practical during warmer months, leading to discomfort and potential health issues. 4. **Equality and Fairness**: The new dress code policy should promote equality and fairness, allowing all students to have a choice in their clothing while maintaining a respectful and appropriate school environment. We respectfully request that the administration reconsider the new dress code policy and allow students the option to wear skirts, shorts, or other appropriate attire in addition to pants. We believe that a more flexible dress code will contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Serinity Budd    11th grade   Gadsden County High school

  • Give students the same loan rates we give big banks
I urge you to sign on as a co-sponsor to Senator Elizabeth Warren's Bank on Students Loan Fairness Act. Senator Warren's bill will prevent the doubling of federal student loan interest rates—set to happen on July 1, 2013—by reducing student loan interest rates to the same level the Federal Reserve gives to big banks (0.75%). Our students are our future and this unnecessary increase in their debt obligations will only serve to stifle the economic recovery and prevent our young people from becoming productive members in our society. Over-burdensome debt obligations make it harder to buy a car, take out a mortgage, start a business, get married, or save for retirement. We need to be investing in our young people, not burdening them with interest rates nine times higher than the rates the big banks that nearly destroyed our entire economy pay on their loans. Please stand with New Mexico's students and sign on as a co-sponsor to Senator Warren's bill. As Senator Warren said when she unveiled her bill, "This is about our students, our economy, and our values." Our students and our economy need your support.

  • Gov. Christie: Time to follow the law on global warming
Gov. Christie, your administration illegally pulled New Jersey from the regulations governing the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), our best tool to cut carbon pollution from power plants, without allowing the public to weigh in. The court ruled that you have 60 days to move forward on a public process on RGGI. Please allow the public to weigh in. We want New Jersey to lead on tackling global warming.

Your job is to help all of the people in PA not just the 1%.Enjoy your one term my friend.

  • Trump Security Cost
Trump's travel to his properties in Florida, New Jersey, New York ... in the first 8-months of his presidency has cost tax payers more than all 8-years Obama was president. Congress should not fund these unnecessary, personal expenses. If the White House or Camp David are not good enough for Trump he should personally pay all costs (travel, security...) He incurs to spend time at his own properties.
