Support Full Enactment of the Second AmendmentWe support the 2nd amendment to the U.S.Constitution and believe that it should be fully activated immediately. That is, a well-regulated militia should be established and regulated for the safety of our citizens. Regulation is easily accomplished using a licensing procedure similar to the procedure and requirements for acquiring a state driver's license: 1) Age limit. 2) Two exams: one written, one operational; including a moderate assessment of the physical ability of the operator. 3) Photo identification on the operator's license. 4) Proof of identity to acquire operator's license. 5) Proof of insurance for both operator and firearm. 6) Annual taxation of each firearm via licensing body, operator must carry proof of taxes paid (registration.) 7) Licensing restricted to certain firearm types. (Licenses not to be issued for tanks or armored military vehicles. And similarly, they should not be issued for military multiple-round arms.) 8) Possession of arms not licensed to a militia member is punishable by long-term imprisonment. 9) Operator's license must be renewed every 4 years, with easily enforceable penalties for license violations. 10) Annual (or more frequent) appearance for training sessions is required to join the militia, including presentation of arms for inspection. Failure to complete regular training is a punishable violation. 11) All property owners and operators of businesses have the right to refuse entry to those bearing arms. 12) The distribution of any firearm or munitions to those who are not legally allowed to own such weaponry is a punishable offense. 13) The attempted purchase of firearms and munitions under false pretense is a punishable offense. 14) Attempting to obtain licensure under false pretense is a punishable offense. Violations might include, but might not be limited to: A. Not having the license on the person when openly or concealed carrying where that is permitted. B. Operating a gun while drinking. C. Operating a gun without a license. D. Operating a faulty, poorly maintained, or altered gun. E. Failure to have insurance for operator or gun. F. Accidental discharge, with or without injury. G. Accidental discharge resulting in the death of another person (this would be in addition to charges already related to accidental death, similar to charges related to auto accidents.) H. The use of any firearm in a threatening manner. We are looking forward to an active Second Amendment and a well-regulated militia.40 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dale A. Ashauer

Petition for the Release of Nancy EzellWe the undersigned, petition you to release Nancy Ezell (#54991). We wonder why this woman is still incarcerated. She is elderly and infirm and no danger to anyone. Also, because prisoners cannot get Medicare, her health care is costing taxpayers in excess of 100 thousand dollars a year. How are you making us safer by wasting our dollars like this? Nancy Ezell was Born 1952 and is now 63. She was convicted in 1998 of drug possession “with intent to manufacture, distribute or deliver. (961.41.)” She has had multiple major heart surgeries, has type 2 diabetes and is on oxygen. She needs both knees replaced and her hips are also giving her much pain. Nancy is now housed in unit with mentally ill prisoners where windows cannot be opened and feels she is near suffocating. She came from housing for younger people, where the noise and pace of the place were stressful and dangerous. To her requests to be moved, she is told there is no room anywhere else. This prison is severely overcrowded. Statistics show that the crime rate drops dramatically (from 12 percent to 6 percent) for people over 30. After 55 it drops to near zero. This would be enough to tell us that Nancy is not dangerous but the fact that she carries around oxygen wherever she goes makes this certain. Another factor is that she is in prison for a non violent drug crime and was sentenced when the WAR ON DRUGS was at its highest pitch. Then Excessive sentences for non violent crimes were the norm. She also has children who would love to have her home and who would care for her. But the enormous cost of keeping Nancy in is not the most important consideration. The prison cannot house someone as sick and frail as Nancy humanely. Prisons were built for the healthy. She is very stressed with the noise and commotion and lack of nurturing has taken its toll. Again studies tell us that prisoners age much quicker than non prisoners- Some studies name 50 , some 55 as “old”. Nancy is old and frail with a bad heart and needs to be home with her loved ones.579 of 600 SignaturesCreated by FFUP

Give New York State Parents the Right to Opt Their Children Out of High Stakes TestingThe state of New York has a complex system of standardized tests that are required of all students in grades 3-12, with the exception of those attending either a public school with a special exemption waiver or a private school. The results from these standardized tests are used to measure individual student achievement, determine grade retention and high school graduation, rate individual schools, compare school districts on a statewide report card, and evaluate teachers and principals despite flaws in the validity and reliability of these tests. We, the undersigned parents/guardians, educators, and residents of New York State are concerned about the ever-increasing over-reliance on results from standardized tests to measure student learning. We believe the state of New York is moving in the wrong direction on this issue and needs to responsibly assess the limitations of relying on these tests for so many critically important decisions that warrant the use of a more robust set of indicators of student learning and school and district progress. The state also needs to examine the opportunity costs of high-stakes testing. In many schools, preparation for high-stakes testing has come to dominate curriculum and instruction, to the exclusion of more-comprehensive, rigorous, and substantive education. We demand that New York develop a process by which parents/guardians concerned about the impacts of testing on student learning can voluntarily opt their children out of standardized testing. There are a number of other large states, including California and Pennsylvania, with clear policies and procedures in place that allow parents to request that children not participate in standardized testing. We demand that the state begin by immediately developing and implementing a non-punitive opt-out process for parents of elementary school children, as there is a large body of research questioning the validity of test results for younger children. Students at all grade levels are negatively affected by high-stakes testing, but such testing is particularly detrimental to the mental and physical health of young children, as the stress placed on children and families at an early age can interfere with the formation of a positive relationship with school and inhibit learning. We further demand that all plans to expand testing to include younger children, from pre-kindergarten through second grade, be halted until a comprehensive examination of the potential impact of such tests is conducted and presented to the public.4,124 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by The Change the Stakes Campaign and the Grassroots Education Movement

Request for the Early Release of Uyghur linguist Abduweli AyupAbduweli Ayup is a Uyghur linguist and educator in Xinjiang, China, who has been detained since August 20, 2013. Abduweli, the recipient of a Ford Foundation Scholarship, earned a Master’s Degree in Linguistics from the University of Kansas in 2011. Upon graduation, he returned to Xinjiang with the hope of establishing a Uyghur Language school so that Uyghur students would have an opportunity to develop academic proficiency in their native language. Abduweli’s school proved to be popular, and he was preparing to open a Uyghur Language kindergarten before his arrest. For nearly nine months, Abduweli was held incommunicado. He was not formally charged until May 17, 2014, when he and his partners, Dilyar Obul and Muhemmet Sidik, were accused of having collected "illegal donations" to support their school. After a one-day trial on July 11, the court ruled on August 21 that Abduweli and his associates had "committed a crime of abusing public money." Supporters of Abduweli find this verdict improbable given Abduweli's character and his transparent approach to legal and financial matters. Abduweli was given an 18-month sentence, effective from his date of detention. His wife, two young daughters, family and wide network of friends eagerly anticipate his release on February 20, 2015. This petition is a respectful request to the Chinese Communist Party for the early release of Abduweli, recognizing that his time served has been more than adequate in impressing the message of his incarceration. U.S. Secretary of Education: HELP STUDENTS! Stop Spending a Billion Dollars on Student Loan Colle...The Department of Education is paying $1 billion dollars a year to collection agencies to collect on defaulted student loans when the reality is that almost no one should default if adequate default prevention and aversion counseling strategies were put into effect and adequately funded. Unemployment remains stubbornly high with a national rate of 8.2% and among young adults (16- to 24-year-olds) it’s over 18%; delinquencies and default rates are rising as indebted student loan borrowers struggle to repay hefty student loans that averages $25,000 upon graduation. With $67 billion of student loans in default, the Department of Education has turned to private debt-collection companies to pursue borrowers. Debt collectors in general received almost 181,000 complaints last year, which has led to intervention from the FTC, which is cracking down on agencies that aren’t obeying the rules. It has been reported that they are violating federal laws by insisting on stiff payments, even when student loan borrowers’ incomes make them eligible for leniency. According to Harvard Law Professor Elizabeth Warren, “Student-loan debt collectors have power that would make a mobster envious.” Three companies that work for the Department of Education settled federal and state allegations of abusive collections, according to Bloomberg. Unfortunately, college debt isn't just taking a financial toll on millions of borrowers. It's also inflicting staggering costs on the health, careers, emotional well-being and personal relationships of those burdened with big college loans. What Happens If You Default on Your Student Loans The following are consequences of what can happen when you Default on a Federal Student Loan: 1. Administrative garnishment of wages 2. Seize federal and state income tax refund 3. Ineligibility for additional financial aid 4. Heavy penalties & high collection charges 5. Derogatory credit rating to all major credit bureaus 6. Loss of Credit 7. Withholding of professional certifications 8. Loss of professional business license 9. Refer loans to Dept of Justice for Litigation 10. Ineligible for FHA and VA loans 11. Courts rarely discharge student loans through bankruptcy Surging above $1 trillion, student loan debt in the United States has surpassed credit card and auto-loan debt. This debt explosion jeopardizes economic recovery and possibly sets the stage for a new economic crisis. We urge you to sign our petition and share it with everyone you know to protect student loan borrowers from collection agencies and provide students with highly experienced counselors to guide them through the loan repayment process and restore their dignity. JUSTICE for #DillonTaylor, 11 August 2014 #RIP!We, the Undersigned, call upon the Department of Justice, President Obama and Congressional Representation for Salt Lake & South Salt Lake City, UT. to appoint a Special Independent Investigation into the MURDER of 20yr. old Dillon Taylor of South Salt Lake City, UT. The State and Local Government, along with the Salt Lake City Police Department and Police Chief Christopher Burbank REFUSE to administer Justice to the Officers who MURDERED Dillon D. Taylor, in cold blood, on the afternoon of Monday, 11 August 2014 when both he, his older brother and cousin were coming out of a 7-Eleven Convenience Store. Mistaken for a neighborhood thug, reportedly brandishing a gun and threatening passers by, Dillon was gunned down by police in front of the store, and left to die in the parking lot of the convenience store thereafter because police refused to administer C.P.R and refused to call E.M.T. and or Fire & Rescue to administer life saving care to him. (Despite pleas from his brother and cousin for them to do so because Dillon was still alive after having been shot by the police.) Because of this clear case of mistaken identity and a clear violation of Dillon's civil as well as human rights we call upon the Department of Justice, President Obama and Congressional Representation for this Voting District to INTERVENE and APPOINT a Special Independent Investigation through the United States Attorney's Office in Salt Lake to Administer Justice on behalf of the Family, and Friends of Dillon D. Taylor. We, the Undersigned, are tired of our youth, elderly and disabled being gunned down by police on the streets of America simply because they can or they will do so. NO MORE! ENOUGH! Thank you, and we await your response in action...681 of 800 SignaturesCreated by David Davidson
