  • DFL Democrats for Unbiased Law Enforcement
November 29, 2015 An Open Letter to DFL Leadership and Elected Officials: We as Democrats profess core values of equality, justice, and respect for human diversity. We know that even in Minnesota, “hate groups” exist (1). We have seen interviews and videos showing men inspired by such rhetoric who fired on unarmed protestors in Minneapolis (2). We have learned some prominent Minnesota law enforcement officers have publicly embraced White Supremacist ideology (3). Some of our own DFL family are organizing at the 4th Precinct in Minneapolis, calling for an unbiased investigation into yet another police shooting of an unarmed Black man. How can we leaders and elected officials, in conscience, leave our brothers and sisters out in the cold – literally or morally? What we ask is that you act TODAY with integrity on our shared DFL values, in three ways: #1.) Call Mike Freeman, Hennepin County Attorney and former DFL Senator from Richfield/Bloomington. He will decide Monday 11/30 whether or not to order a Grand Jury for this case. Ask him not to do that. Grand Juries almost always indict alleged assailants, but hardly ever do so when the accused are police officers. Ask Mike to charge the two officers directly. Phone 612-348-2146, fax at 612-348-2042, Email [email protected] #2.) Ask Mike to release the videotapes of this incident. #3.) Publicly call for police officers to blow the whistle on actions and policies within their Union and divisions they see as biased by racism. This takes great courage, integrity, and ethical action from men and women of conscience. Promise, as DFL leaders or elected officials, that you will support whistleblowers who call out wrongs within their own organizations, including the Police Union. Promise to do everything you can to help keep them safe from retaliation, amplify their public voices, and help find them new work if necessary. Thank you for standing up and speaking out for our shared values as Democrats. Thank you for supporting MYDFL and our members in their nonviolent call an end to excess force and racial bias in Minnesota policing. Sincerely yours, The signers of this petition (Contact: Karen Wills, CD3 Outreach Officer, 612-270-6559, [email protected]) 1.) https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map 2.) http://www.citypages.com/news/armed-white-supremacists-threaten-protesters-at-fourth-precinct-shutdown-7847606 and http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/police-arrest-4th-suspect-blm-shooting 3) http://citizen.education/index.php/2015/11/25/the-ghosts-in-minneapolis-progressive-machine/ and https://www.facebook.com/notes/1036373579730293/?pnref=story.unseen-section

  • Please Remember Debbie Peagler for Her Contribution of Domestic Violence...Crime After Crime
Remember Debbie Peagler for Her Contribution to Domestic Violence….Crime After Crime Dear First Lady and First Grandmother, I have concerns for the battered and abused Mothers incarcerated in prisons for defending their own lives and often the lives or their children and unborn babies from a violent Domestic Partner Attack Across America! Like Debbie Peagler’s story many have been wrongfully incarcerated or robbed of the Battered Woman’s Syndrome Defense or any Defense at all. Including The No Stalking Law. Many have been incarcerated for two or more decades alone and among the forgotten and are dying. The USA Justice Department is backlogged for years with appeal cases. www.crimeaftercrime.com. Please help end this travesty of injustice. The lack of understanding of the traumatic effects of battering and the Battered Woman’s Syndrome Defense by Judges, Prosecutors, and Defense Attorneys is problematic to adequately bring an acquittal, or short term involuntary manslaughter sentencing. There is no accountability for Judges, Prosecutors, Defense Attorneys, or Governors who deliberately squash evidence and sequester witnesses and family members. Recently, Vice President Joe Biden stated,”Culturally, battered woman are blamed for their own abuse.” We also know that racial and gender bias also plays a role and especially in rural courtrooms where good ole boy male dominant patriarchal reign is in power. Statistic show battered women-mothers are more severely sentenced. The Sympathy goes to the deceased abuser family instead of the First Victim-The Battered Mother. She is robbed of her children for the rest of her life and often they are raised in foster care….and receiving more abuse. Because of abortion laws; a battered mother does not have the right to defend or protect her “unborn fetus” from a domestic abuser. The Pregnancy is withheld from the Jury. Consequently, 25 years to life sentences is the result. She delivers with 3 officers surrounding the birthing bed, two officers posted outside the door, and shackled to the bed because she is considered a threat to society. She is often not given the benefits of the No Stalking Law or a reduction in sentencing. What is considered “Stalking” seems to be up to the Judge’s discretion. And usually the abused woman is denied the benefits of a reduced sentence. The trauma, she has experienced has the court declaring her hopelessly mentally ill, thus Parole Boards, and Governors keep her in prison. Just like the leaders of the Women’s Suffrage Movement by President Woodrow Wilson. Past Leaders of the Free World have been hesitant to stand up on this issue in fear that they may lose the election but, I believe President Obama will end this Injustice to American Mothers; and to quote President Lincoln, “ because of sin by silence.” www.sinbysilence.com. The State of Florida has the oldest release program without any repeat offenses for domestic homicide. • Texas A&M University needs to institutionalize anti-racism. If not, we will be here again.
Dear Dr. Young, I hope this message finds you well. I can imagine that the last few weeks have been difficult for you and your leadership team. In the midst of trying to pivot the university to a safe return for the Fall 2020 semester, you are now trying to address the racism in our university’s past and present. I can imagine that you are not getting much sleep and that this is a highly stressful time. I implore you to breathe and try to get some rest because there is much more work to do. My name is Maco L. Faniel. I am a member of the class of 2002 and a fierce and sometimes remorseful advocate of Texas A&M University. I often regret my love for and advocacy for TAMU, because as an institution it has refused to reckon with its history of racism. This history of racism is not something that merely remains in the past, it informs the present and it is what the university and system is trying to defend. This is what the chancellor tried to defend in his 2018 statement to The Battalion refuting their reporting on Sul Ross by saying “literally, Prairie View A&M and Texas A&M would not exist but for Lawrence Sullivan Ross.” He also obstinately said that “Lawrence Sullivan Ross will have his statue at Texas A&M forever.” This is what the counter-protesters were trying to defend in singing the Aggie War Hymn in an attempt to drown out those calling out the racist violence and symbolism of Sul Ross. This is what Aggies are defending on various message boards and social media groups. This is what you are defending in your Actions And Next Steps: Campus Climate statement because the next steps do not require the university to reckon with the past or move towards anti-racism. Diversity and Inclusion is not anti-racism. Black Aggies past and present, faculty from the history department, and even the Texas A&M chapter of the College Republicans have been begging for recognition of Senator Matthew Gaines for over 25 years. Each administration has promised action but offered few results. It seems that you are listening now, but there is much more that should be done. TAMU knows how to raise money, I beg of you to use your office and the superb fundraising acumen of the university to raise this money quickly to bring about results quickly. I also urge you and the chancellor to unequivocally and immediately say that without the efforts of Senator Matthew Gaines and the interracial 12th legislature of Texas, that there would not be a Texas A&M University. The efforts of Black folks to free themselves turned the Civil War from a war to reunite the union to a war to end slavery. Once formerly enslaved Black men received the right to vote, many of them took on political leadership. Throughout the south, interracial governments led by Black men established publicly funded higher education. Simply stated, without Black folks, there is no Texas A&M University.

  • Prevent another disaster off our coasts
I urge you to remove the Atlantic and Arctic oceans from the 2017-2022 OCS Oil and Gas Leasing Program. Allowing oil drilling and development in the pristine and remote waters of America's Arctic Ocean, as well as along the Atlantic coastline, where economies are driven by coastal tourism, is risky and unnecessary. Opening these areas to dirty and dangerous offshore drilling is simply incompatible with the future of America's coastlines and beaches. The Gulf of Mexico still has not recovered from the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon spill. Oil continues to wash ashore on Gulf beaches, and commercial fisheries and marine populations have not rebounded. And even 25 years after the Exxon Valdez oil spill, fisheries and marine mammal populations in Prince William Sound have not recovered. In addition, new offshore leasing and drilling is at odds with fighting climate disruption. President Obama and this administration have done more to combat climate change than any other in American history. The May 6, 2014, National Climate Assessment tells an unambiguous story: The planet is warming, and over the last half-century this warming has been driven predominantly by the burning of fossil fuels like oil and gas. If we’re serious about averting an additional 2-degree temperature increase and avoiding the most catastrophic impacts of climate change, we have to keep dirty fuels like oil and gas in the ground. That should start with protecting fragile areas and areas that have not yet been opened to exploration. In the Arctic, government scientists agree that more data is needed to fully understand the impacts of oil drilling in the region; that an oil spill could not be effectively cleaned up in the icy and stormy Arctic; and that the lack of infrastructure in the Arctic is a significant liability in the event of a large oil spill. An oil spill in the Arctic Ocean could devastate endangered bowhead whales, polar bears, seals, and other marine wildlife, and could severely affect Native subsistence communities that have thrived in this remote region for thousands of years. In the Atlantic, leading ocean scientists are urging the president to prevent any seismic testing for oil and gas reserves in order to protect whales and other marine mammals. If allowed to proceed, this testing would harm the critically endangered right whale, disrupt fisheries, and open the door for risky drilling and attendant pollution along the East Coast. The president's work fighting climate disruption must extend to include protecting our coasts and beaches from drilling. Please step back and reassess whether to open the Atlantic and Arctic oceans to oil drilling. The massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico devastated and continues to haunt that region. Don't risk the same fate, and worse, for the Atlantic and Arctic oceans by opening these regions to unsafe oil drilling. The rush to allow oil drilling in the Atlantic and Arctic oceans moves us away from a clean energy future that doesn't rely on dirty fossil fuels.

  • Keeping Our Social Security Promises Act
Republicans have indicated their hated for Social Security, an extraordinarily successful program in our nation's history. When Social Security was developed, 50 percent of seniors lived in poverty. Today, that number is 10 percent -- still too high, but a testament to the success of Social Security. Republicans have spent years demonizing Social Security and spreading lies about its sustainability using scare tactics against Americans to build support for making drastic cuts to the program or privatizing it entirely. Their long-term goal is to end Social Security as we know it, and convert it into a private account system which will enable Wall Street to make hundreds of billions in profits. The truth is that, today, according to the Social Security Administration, Social Security has a $2.7 trillion surplus and can pay out every benefit owed to every eligible American for the next 25 years. Social Security is funded by the payroll tax and not the U.S. Treasury, Social Security has not contributed one nickel to our deficit. Now we need to strengthen Social Security. I urge you to sign this petition to support Senator Sander’s bill called the "Keeping Our Social Security Promises Act." This legislation would lift the Social Security Payroll tax cap on all income over $250,000 a year, would require millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share into the Social Security Trust Fund, and extend the program for the next 75 years. Join me now in signing this petition to demand that the Congress, the Senate, and the President enact the Keeping Our Social Security Promises Act. For 76 years, through good times and bad, Social Security has paid out every benefit owed to every eligible American. The most effective way to strengthen Social Security for the next 76 years is to scrap the payroll tax cap for those earning $250,000 a year or more. Right now, someone who earns $106,800 pays the same amount of money into Social Security as billionaires like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. That is because today, all income above $106,800 is exempt from the Social Security tax. As a result, 94% of Americans pay Social Security tax on all of their income, but the wealthiest 6% do not. Does that make sense to you? The "Keeping Our Social Security Promises Act" will ensure the long-term solvency of Social Security without cutting benefits, raising the retirement age or raising taxes on the middle class. Join me in fighting to strengthen Social Security --Sign our petition to demand that our government enact the Keeping Our Social Security Promises Act. Social Security is keeping tens of millions of seniors out of poverty today. I can think of no more important issue facing our country today than making sure that Social Security remains strong for generations to come.

  • Failure of MyCare Ohio
It is unfair for Ohio Medicaid Providers and it’s Senior citizens to be left in the dark looking for answers since MyCare Ohio took place on July 1st, 2014. Providers are facing a lot of challenge with Aetna and Molina. The Managed Care organizations are violating the rules and regulations under Mycare Ohio. Direct Care Waiver Services: Personal care, Waiver Nursing, Home Care Attendant, Choices Home Care Attendant, Out- of-Home Respite, Enhanced Community Living, Adult Day Health Services, Social Work Counseling, Independent Living Assistance. • Services will be maintained at current level and with current providers at the current Medicaid reimbursement rates for 365 days (the rule) All other Waiver Services: Home Medical Equip & Adaptive and Assistive Devise, Non-Emergent Transportation, Chore, Emergency Response System, Home Modification, Homemaker, Meals, Alternative Meals, Pest Control, Nutrition Consultation, and Community Transition. • Services will be maintained at current level for 365 days, and existing provider at existing rate for 90 days. Other Issues providers face are as following: • Claims being rejected even with the correct billing information entered • Delay in payments for months without being able to track them on their portal • Partial checks received even after waiting for months • Lack of Portal Accessibility and limiting access to provider so provider’s won’t be able to track payment status and see what is submitted. • Providers are forced to drop client’s due to lack of payments and insurance failure. • HMO Case managers are lacking experience with consumer’s current services and needs • Providers rate reductions by Molina and telling providers it’s a system issues. • Consumer’s are confused with what will happen to them under MyCare Ohio • No customer support to solve provider issues and questions except calling Aetna or Molina office that are often lack of experience themselves. After carefully reviewing the disaster caused by MyCare Ohio; it is affecting everyone with our Senior citizens and the Disabled being abandoned by this new system. Providers are trying to do their best to provider the much-needed services to our senior citizens but It’s very difficult with expenses going and no money coming in from those managed care organizations and holding provider checks. It is time to take action, to stand up for our Senior Citizens, providers and tell the senators why they supporting this MyCare Ohio and hold them countable for this mess. • Pledge for Transparency and Integrity in American Politics
I believe that I have found a solution to the problem of the vitriolic political process here in the United States. I have broken it down into bullet points in order of importance. The Pledge for Transparency and Integrity in Government: 1. Term limits - no person may serve more than 12 years in Congress. That means no more than 6 terms in the house or 2 terms in the Senate. Or 1 term in the Senate and 3 terms in the house. That's it. Done. Go home. 2. No pensions for serving in an elected office. None. Period. Go get a job. 3. No one who has ever been a lobbyist may run for office, and no one who has served in office may become a lobbyist. 4. Eliminate lobbyists and PACs completely. No exceptions. These are the two biggest facilitators of corruption in the United States Government. 5. Campaign finance reform • no one running for office may spend more on their campaign, than 1/4 of the annual salary for the position they are running for. • no individual may donate more than $50 to any campaign or political party. • corporations may not donate more than $50 to any candidate or political party. • no PACs. None. Period. • no TV, radio or print ads. • All media outlets required to cover all candidates equally. • full ballot access to anyone who files the paperwork. No minimum signatures. • all candidates on the ballot must be offered the opportunity to be included in debates, both televised and not. 6. All proposed laws must be limited to one subject. No add-ons of any kind. Also, no law may be longer than the original constitution. No more using confusing clauses and excessive length of bills to hide the intent. 7. Mandatory balanced budget amendment. Without a balanced budget, we cannot fix the broken government. Signed:________________________________ Date:______________________________________ I believe that this should be the first litmus test of a candidate running for office. If a candidate will not sign this pledge, then they are unworthy of our votes. Any candidate unwilling to sign this proves that they are seeking office for personal gain, and not for the good of the American people. If you agree with me, please share this post, and also send a copy of this pledge to the candidates currently running for office, in your district. If We The People, make it clear that no candidate, REGARDLESS of party affiliation, will receive our votes, we can take back our government!

  • Justice for Jame Jenkins Yavapai Superior Courts want to send him to prison for 5 years for Marij...
My son James has been the owner an Operator for a small trucking business for 8 years, never been in any trouble. He has always been a model citizen, he has a wife and two children 3 yrs old and 17 yrs old. James was arrested 01-22-2011, in Arizona for possession of Marijuana. After being placed on probation which in a sense he was forced to plead guilty after being 5 minutes late to a phone appearance, The Judge place a bench warrant for 120,000 cash bond and told his attorney she was going to put him in jail unless he took a deal so he plead Guilty to marijuana. James was placed on probation 01-12-2015 and then he did an interstate compact transfer to California. After being on probation for almost 1 year California probation fabricated and told the courts he never reported, so the courts issued a warrant for Absconding. When they found out he had all his records to prove he did in fact report they then said it was because he did an address change without permission. James had permission from California probation, but the Yavapai Superior courts said "he should have gotten permission, from Arizona. At any rate its a non-violent case and the violation is minor why 5 years in prison. The Jugde is running for her seat and James is the only African American in her courts and I hate to say it but I hav'nt seen her do any one like him and he is not getting his due process of law. He ask the public defender to get his file from probation, he said it wont matter, he cant get any attorney to represent him we have been to 13 Law firm no one wants to defend him in her courts. A lot of his constitutional rights have been violated and he was also threatened by probation. James was told by probation that if he did'nt lower his voice he would be pounced on and not make it out alive my son feared for his life, He put the statement on court records and the Judge said "probation can do what they want to do.
